Awesome Art Picks: Batman, Spider-Man, Polaris and More

The coolest comic book art you won't see in comics.

Each and every week we gather up the best comic book art that you will not see in comics. The reason you won't is because artists often do sketches for fun and commissions and post them on their websites, blogs and Tumblrs. Many artists often arrange commissions through their sites so check them out for more detail if you're looking to own a cool original piece.

Phil Noto always manages to capture the emotion of the characters in a subtle yet powerful way. Seeing his sketch of Black Widow and Hawkeye, posted on his Tumblr, speaks volumes without even trying.

Who besides me is excited about the return of Mr. Miracle? We saw the EARTH 2 gatefold cover reveal by Brett Booth last week and he posted a Miracle sketch on his blog as well.

Skottie Young put up his AvX Babies cover on eBay. He also posted some various drawing/ink tests on his Tumblr.

Mahmud Asrar posted a Kitty Pryde commission as well as some Supergirl/Wonder Woman sketches on his Tumblr.

Dustin Nguyen posted the Gotham City Sirens on his blog along with a rockin' cherub (Cherub Rock, get it?) on his Tumblr.

Ryan Stegman has been off the last couple issues of SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN (rotating artists and all that) but here's a sketch he did for a local football team, posted on his Tumblr.

Gene Gonzales posted a sketch of Night-Girl and Batman on his blog.

Peter Nguyen will be at WonderCon next week (and so will I!). Here's some recent commissions he posted on his Tumblr.

Chris Giarrusso posted a sketch of his character, Kid Thunder along with another cover sketch of Cap on his website.

Denis Medri posted another Star Wars 80s high school pic and Rockabilly Batman Two-Face sketch on his Deviant Art Page.

Joel Gomez posted a sketch cover of Batman on his Tumblr.

Michael Walsh posted a commission of Miss America (Ms. America?) on his Tumblr.

Todd Nauck posted a Polaris sketch on his Tumblr along with a Spider-Man pic that he did for Mexico City's La Mole Comic Convention commemorative art book this weekend.

Francesco Francavilla posted a bunch of commissions from MegaCon on his Twitter.

That's it for this week. Next week is WonderCon in Anaheim. Hopefully we'll see loads of great art from there. I will be there. Keep an eye out for me and say hello. There may be another Mystery Art Challenge. I haven't had a chance to sit down and think about it yet!
