'Arrow' Casts Rila Fukushima as Katana

Goodbye, Wolverine. Hello, Green Arrow!

Yukio, played by Rila Fukushima, fought to protect James Howlett in The Wolverine, and now the actress is heading to the DC universe to help Oliver Queen, a.k.a. Green Arrow! Fukushima has been cast as Tatsu Yamashiro, a.k.a. Katana, and she'll mentor Oliver Queen during the flashback sequences in Hong Kong. If you know anything about Katana, odds are you know she's quite skilled, so she'll obviously be a good person to teach Ollie some new moves.

Devon Aoki originally landed the role but, according to Deadline, she couldn't follow through because of a scheduling conflict. Viners, are you excited for more Arrow? Speak your mind in the comments below.

Season 3 of Arrow will begin October 8th on The CW.

Agreed. She should fit the role.

This is a great add for the show. I loved her performance in The Wolverine -- such great screen presence, one of those people that bring up the intensity just by walking into view.

Oh, the girl with the weird face.

@bsaa: glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks that.

Does anyone think she'll dye her hair black.

She was one of the best parts of The Wolverine!

First Brandon Routh, now her. What's up with Arrow using actors from all the worst superhero movies ever? Who's next, Guy Pearce? Ioan Gruffudd?

@amazingwebhead: the wolverine is not that bad. It is actually enjoyable compare to TASM 2 imo

Cool.

@bsaa: She's a butter face.

Cool choice

Oh, the girl with the weird face.

Sadly I have to agree there, her face is weird.

Been a while since a casting felt so right.

@amazingwebhead: Superman Returns wasn't the worst superhero movie ever, or even in the realm of the worst superhero movies ever. Neither was Wolverine. Now if they hired Mark Pillow (Nuclear Man) or Will.I.Am, then you'd have a valid point. On the plus side, Nic Cage's career is kind of in the shits. Let's get HIM on Arrow! He could play the Blue Beetle. Boom. You're welcome DC!

Oh, the girl with the weird head shape.

fixed it.

@the_stegman: Yeah, I would like to put butter on her face.

Posted by Farkam

I like her.

@jj_was_here: @boynerdgeek: I'm going to respectfully disagree with you both, but I know better that to start another argument on this site.

Guys, it totally isn't her face, really. The shape of her head is weird. She looks like one of the Radishes from Super Mario Bros. 2. It just bothers me every time I see it. Kind of bummed that Devon Aoki dropped out of the role.

She was awesome in The Wolverine.

Perfect casting IMO. She was indeed good in Wolverine. And with that sword I can so picture her as Katana!

@amazingwebhead: Alright, then let's discuss it like gentlemen (for as long as that can possibly last). I don't feel that Superman Returns was the greatest superhero movie. It was essentially Superman The Movie with better graphics and a kid. But it was way better than Superman IV or Ghost Rider or Fantastic 4. My biggest problem with people complaining about Superman movies is they say Superman Returns didn't have enough action, Superman didn't even throw a punch, TOO MUCH CHARACTER STUFF BLAAAAH! But then the same people say Man of Steel had too much action, not enough character development, SUPERMAN DOESN'T KILL (Superman II would disagree with that as would Superman #22). I feel like haters just want to hate.

Oh I totally agree with that. I honestly just think most people will look for any excuse to rip on Superman. (Personally I loved Man of Steel) But there were a lot of reasons I didn't like Returns besides the lack of action (even if that was a big problem). Like how it was 85% ripped off from the original movie, or how Luthor was basically Joker (but without all the charm) going into real estate (what's worse, he was the only actor not half-assing his performance).

Great casting - she will do perfect as Katana!!

@amazingwebhead: Well damn. We don't actually disagree on anything (Man of Steel is amazing and I can probably recite it at this point). Crisis averted! Unless you want to disagree. Let's see here......I really like the Constantine movie staring Keanu Reeves.

Green Arrow is pretty skilled with swords however rarely shown.
