Ares is Back for Chaos War

He was really just taking a breather.

 He's coming for the belt!
 He's coming for the belt!

Who’s Ares to let a little matter like getting ripped in half keep him down? The Sentry might’ve left him half the man he used to be in SIEGE but, sure enough, the god of war’s getting pulled back together by his old enemy. Comics Nexus caught up with Mike Oeming for some tidbits pertaining to the five-issue CHAOS WAR: ARES mini he’ll be starting in. See, the Chaos King’s bringing back everybody’s favorite non- Kratos war god and forcing him into servitude for the CHAOS WAR. He’ll even be pitted against his old “god squad” buddies Thor and Hercules.

Glad to see that the bad man’s going to be back and busting heads, even if he isn’t necessarily guiding the hands that’ll be putting the hurt on. Either way, did any of you really think he’d be gone for that long? In the grand scheme of things, he was basically just taking a seat on the bench and staying out of the game for a quarter, which brings me to another… == TEASER ==

Ares wasn’t too far off from a pro wrestler to begin with (I could see Batista playing him if there were ever a movie) and this whole comeback story reminds me of how outside circumstances so often influence the plot in RAW or SMACKDOWN. You know what I’m talking about, right? Stone Cold cranks his neck too hard during a match and, rather than admit it on TV, they come up with some in-story explanation about him getting “suspended." In my mind, you’ve got something similar, here. Ares busts his knee in real life? They “kill him” in the comics, let him take it easy for a couple years and then bring him back to life in time for Marvel’s own “Survivor Series”… a crossover like CHAOS WAR.
