Another Villain Added and More News about 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2'

A classic foe joins the roster and news about the sequel's story!

There has been some speculation about who Colm Feore will play in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and now ComicBookMovie claims they know that and a whole lot more about Spidey's sequel. According to the site, Feore will play as Adrian Toomes aka Vulture aka the awesome guy who hit Spider-Man with the infamous loop-the-loop.

No Caption Provided

If you want to avoid potential plot spoilers, now is the time to leave.

Gone? Good.

The website says Toomes will possibly team-up with Green Goblin, Electro and Rhino to form the Sinister Six in the third film -- they're unaware who the remaining two characters could be if this does happen. Additionally, they're saying Parker will indeed fight the Green Goblin in the second movie and it could conclude with the death of Gwen Stacy. Seeing as Emma Stone was spotted wearing the same clothing the comic book character died in, I'd say it's a strong possibility.

What do you think of this, Viners? Is the film getting too crowded or do you think director Marc Webb has a solid plan for these characters and will juggle them well?

Too many villains is bad and if they are going to form Sinister Six then Doc Ock should be in it.

He'll probably have a cameo in the second. I'm betting Lizard returning for ASM3 and possibly Kraven to form Sinister Six. I feel like people think all these characters will be in ASM2. No.

This could be interesting. I was getting worried that they were over doing it villain wise and was gonna end up like Spiderman 3 but to build it up right and create a Sinister 6 would be cool. I wouldnt mind seeing Sandman again (although the first one i thought sucked)

I'd say that SM3 had too many villains, but that was by far the least of the problems.

If the movie is done right, they can squeeze in as many as they want. I mean, besides a few moments in comic book history, I don't think any of us is really so passionate about the subtle facets of Electro's or Vulture's personalities. The only thing a little bit profound I can remember with these guys was the stuff at the graveyard with Rhino's wife, so... I think they will be treated as menacing but generic goons.

After all, there was only one major villain in Iron Man 2 (besides Hammer, which was meh): Whiplash, and we all remember how that went, when they tried to make a third string villain interesting.

So I guess what I'm saying is: who know? Maybe they will pleasently surprise us.

Sounds to me like little to no character development at all in ASM2. Electro, Rhino, Norman Osborn and now Vulture too? What next? Add two more and form the Sinister Six? Hopefully the main villains will be just Electro and Rhino with Osborn and Toomes as wealthy competitors/potential allies at defeating the webslinger. Just don't throw too many eggs in the omlet, otherwise you'll get a nasty indigestion!

I didn't like the first movie. Imdont expect much from the second movie. Plus, I never cared much for the sinister six. Are Spider-Man's villains so weak that it takes all six of them to beat him? Then they don't beat him? Idk, I think Spidey has one of the worse rogues galleries in comics. That being said, I have low expectations for the movie

Getting too crowded is what ruined Spider-Man 3, and that film wasn't playing off of (in my opinion) the greatest super-hero film of all time.

This film's basework is a flimsy, borderline clumsy melting pot of please-everyone filmmaking (starring Andrew Garfield because sure why not), and considering how hard Spider-Man 3 fell under the weight of its multiple antagonists all with backstories, origins and motives to establish, it's not hard to imagine this film will fall much further unless constructed perfectly. Looking at the first Amazing Spider-Man... yeah, I wouldn't count on it.

I'm starting to get some spider man 3 vibes because of this. Hopefully the film will know how to balance these characters so that it doesn't become a train wreck.

No offense to anyone, but I'm still upset, because they casted a black guy to play Electro. It just doesn't make any sense and it looks like it's only there to draw attention.

With that being said I can see that guy pulling off a good Vulture. He even has the same nose! I'm curious how the new Goblin will look like and if Venom will make an appearance in the third movie. If he does, it's a perfect indicator that they're trying to make it right this time.

I disagree with you on SM3. The amount of villains wasn't the reason the movie sucked. It was because all three villains sucked more or less. The story, the reason why Harry was after Peter is ludicrous and the movie even highlights it with the dumb butler scene. The retcon that Sandman was the guy who shot uncle Ben was horrible and was done just for drama's sake. Venom was a miscast, I couldn't take the guy seriously. "I like being bad, it makes me feel good."

Or let's put it this way: Spider-Man The Animated Series had a three parter episode which is basically Spider-Man 3 in lesser screentime and with MORE villains. The three parter pulls it off with class and style. The symbiote arrives on earth in a space shuttle that crashes in the Brooklyn Bridge. Spidey goes to save the day and gets "infected". In SM3, the symbiote just conviniently lands in the park where Peter and MJ just happen to be...

So in short (too late) I'd say The Amazing Spider-Man could pull this off. Then again the first movie was a repeat of Raimi's Spider-Man so maybe TASM will "homage" Spidey 3.

The Amazing Spider-Man saga might end with a 4th movie if Marc Webb is gonna stuff six villains in one movie, and in reply to what JamesKM716 said about SM3 having 3 villains, there was only 2,Harry Osborne doesn't count as a villain,he is like Ghost Rider,an anti-hero.

@w0nd: I think Sony owns the film rights to Spider-man as long as they keep making them(which seems to be the only reason they keep making them, they do make money after all, even if they are bad), if they stop, after a certain amount of time the rights go back to Marvel and then they could integrate Spidey into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with The Avengers and stuff.

Also..... SINISTER SIX!!!!!!!!!

I don't care if it's the sinister six if they fuck it up then it's useless to me lol. They have to introduce and develop ALL of these new characters in one movie, they barely introduced sandman and venom in one movie and the new goblin was developed over the span of 3 films....this sounds like it's going to be a cluster f*ck but oh well

Ugh. I didn't like ASM. And I can't help but fear for a movie that seems to be building a toy line rather than building characters. Hopefully I'm wrong, but I've yet to see anything that makes me think I'll enjoy the second one more than the first.

I do like the Vulture though. Always thought he was interesting.

@teamunitednerds:

It wasn't the fact that it had 3 villains. The problem was it had 3 POORLY handled villains. The largely silent Lady Deathstrike from X-Men 2 had more spark in her character than all 3 of the villains combined in Spidey 3. It also didn't help that the villains from the first two Spidey films were so well written.
