'Amazing Spider-Man 2' Director Teases Spider-Man Connection To FBI And FDR

Director Marc Webb has taken to Twitter to give fans clues about what we can expect to see in the upcoming movie.

Director Marc Webb has been taking to Twitter nearly everyday to post pictures of his upcoming project, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie, and give fans hints about what they can expect to see in the upcoming film. Earlier in the week Webb posted a picture of Spidey's eye mask which looked pretty cool, but didn't really give us a whole lot of insight into what the story line of the upcoming movie will be all about. More recently, however, it seems that Webb has given us more clues. First, a photo of two FBI agents holding up their badges and pointing them (rather authoritatively) straight at the camera with the hashtag "#knockknock", and more recently the image of former President Franklin Delano Roosevelt made entirely out of sticky notes with the hashtage "#thepassage."

So the question is, what could these clues be leading up to? How do they pertain to the overall plot in question? If you think back to Marc's first venture into the Spider-Man mythos at the end of the first film, audiences were given some clues at the end of the film following the credits. If you haven't scene the film or the scene we are referring to, then you may want to stop reading now.

Following the credits for The Amazing Spider-Man we get a scene featuring Dr. Curt Connors who is in prison, which you can watch here. In it, he is visited by a very mysterious, shadowy figure who asks him, "did you tell the boy about his father?" Following this moment, Connors grows defensive and demands that the mysterious man "leave the boy alone." Lightning strikes in the background and provides the only light for the scene. This detail could merely be for dramatic effect, or it could be a nod to the movie sequel's next villain, Electro, who will be played by Jaime Foxx. But what could Electro want with information on Peter Parker's parents? Our theory is that the end scene we saw in the first film has something to do with the clues being provided to fans by Webb via Twitter, but that's merely speculation. What do you think? Do you think it is possible that there is a connection between Parker's father, the picture of FDR, and the knock on the door from the FBI agents? We will have to wait and see.

What would you like to see in the next Spider-Man movie? Is there something that hasn't been touched on that you would like to see dealt with? Do you want to know more about Peter's parents?

Can't people just say "oh, maybe the guy Curt hallucinated about in prison wont even have anything to do with the sequel and maybe he'll just appear in number 3"?

I don't think the lightning had any nod towards Electro. Electro is being played by Jaime Fox but IMDB says the "Man in the Shadows" was played Michael Massee. He wasn't the Rhino either.

I'm sure the FBI connection rests heavily with the fate of Peter's father.

Well as Peters parents where SHIELD agents in the comics they are more than likely going to be FBI agents in the films

It is Norman Osborn. Supposedly......someones tongue slipped and they confirmed it.....also, it the comics before norman was officially introduced, he was shown wearing a trench coat and hat (just like the man in the shadows.

Is there going to be one of these articles after every single tweet? I like speculation as much as the next guy, but not if there is gonna be a whole year of this.

Spider-man and green goblin fought on Roosevelt island in Sam Raimi's movie following a scene with MJ that was a throwback to the goblin throwing Gwenn off a bridge

I still say the first reboot film was atrocious. I would like to completely forget that movie. Spider-Man sells & though Green Lantern was pretty terrible where is the fast track of that sequel?

I think... I'm already hating this movie. Tell me when Spider-Man exists in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so they give him the actual costume and don't f*** with his origin story because they secretly are Batman fanboys.

Peter steels the Venom suit. And they come looking for it, or they suspect him being Spider-Man.

I was under the impression that the dude in the shadows was Mysterio or something. That would be more exciting in my opinion.

-You forgot the photo of the locker hinting at Ultimate Venom.

-I think the guy in the shadows was Mysterio. They confirmed it wasn't Norman Osborn, and who else can pull off a vanishing act like that in a Spider-Man movie?

-I don't know about FDR, but the FBI agents obviously involve Richard and Mary Parker.

The bloody hand print Spider-man left behind after he got shot never got addressed yet they made sure it was clear as hell which always made me think the guy in the shadows is the Jackal.

Personal theory: that might have been Doc Octopus, and when he asked him about if he will be joining him or something, he meant he was trying to form the Sinister Six. Which also might be why Electro is in the second movie (Electro was part of the Sinister Six right?)

You forgot about:

Here's my theory: the symbiote crashed on Earth during FDR's term. He had the government lock it up so they could examine it. More recently, Richard Parker of OsCorp was enlisted by the FBI to work on it. Now, Peter has just found the symbiote in his dad's old locker, and the FBI is onto him.
