Actress Amy Adams Opens Up About 'Man of Steel' Movie

The actress reveals her excitement about the movie as well as whether she would reprise the role of Lois Lane onscreen.

We've seen plenty of Man of Steel images, commentary and more leak out gradually. Earlier this fall we got a look at the teaser trailer for the upcoming film and we've seen plenty of photographs from the movie set. Although we've seen what actor Henry Cavill looks like as Superman, there hasn't been a whole lot of talk from Lois Lane. That is, of course, until now. Actress Amy Adams who plays Lois in the upcoming Man of Steel movie recently spoke with Digital Spy. She was asked about the role as well as whether she would play Lois in the future.

"I would be more than happy to jump onto a sequel but you've got to, what's the saying, don't put the cart before the horse? Don't count your chickens before they hatch," she answered. "I always take things one day at a time."

Based on her answer, it seems Adams is not (at this time) signed on to do a sequel, but that the idea of reprising the role of Lois Lane is not out of the question for her since she did seem to enjoy working on the film. According to the actress, she "absolutely loved" the trailer and she is really looking forward to seeing the film. She also mentions she hopes "Superman fans [are] excited, too." It is always interesting to discover how much about a film an actress or an actor does not know, but it is nice to see that Ms. Adams is looking forward to Man of Steel. Not only that, but her appearance in a sequel is not out of the question. What do you think, however? Are you looking forward to Man of Steel and to seeing Amy Adams play Lois Lane?

Man of Steel is directed by Zack Snyder and stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon and many more. The film is schedule to hit theaters nationwide on June 14th, 2013. Are you looking forward to the movie?

It matters to me. Don't get me wrong, she's a talented actress, and she had one of the strongest roles in The Fighter, but the decision to not do anything to look like the comic book character shows me that she lacks that push to go the extra mile. When Jeff Bridges was chosen to be Obadiah Stane in Iron Man, Favreau specifically told him that he didn't have to shave his head for the part. Bridges did it anyway, and to me, shows me that he has that dedication. I'm looking forward to MoS, and I know Adams will be a great Lane, but her decision kind of disappoints me.

People whine about Lois's Red hair, but not Bruce's Brown hair in the Nolan's Movies? SEXIST!

I'm kind of looking forward to this movie, but they burned us once with that last film. As long as they learned the lessons from the mistakes in SUPERMAN RETURNS. There's some chance.

Here's hoping this Lois Lane cares more about journalistic integrity than how she's being used in the comics.

She wouldn't look like Lois even if she changed the color of her hair. I like her as an actress but she is just as bad a choice as the one they chose in the last movie. Yes the way a person acts is important but so is the look. If you can't get a certain amount of both in your choice then you're failing at casting right for the part. Besides which I have seen most everything she has done, both funny, serious and she just doesn't have the same type of vibe, charisma as I would imagine Lois. It wont ruin the movie for me but it's disappointing that they don't try to put more effort into picking the right actress.

@Lvenger: Its fair enough, and all down to personal opinion anyway, so I'm not saying anyones opinion isn't valid, but if they want to please the long term fans they should find a way to make it all as authentic to the lore as possible. I know in reality the hardcore comic book fans will never have priority over the mass public, but in my ideal daydream world I would always see the films the way their creators may have been picturing them as they sat writing the scripts and drawing the thumbnails.

@Icon: Yeah, but changing something that has been set into fans minds is just stupid when it doesn't need to be changed. If they gave Superman blond hair you may be more inclined to agree, (possibly, I don't know you so maybe you wouldn't mind that either! I mean no disrespect, just stating my point...lol) but in my mind without good reason it's just the same, you are taking something from an existing world and altering it due to some silly reason (like the actress doesn't suit that colour but does suit the part etc).

@Lvenger: It kind of does matter when a different established character is known to have red hair already and you start to confuse people before the film has even finished being made, it's just a minor niggle that will grind. where as more blatant large change could be forgiven if they have good reason.

I'll refer to Icon's comment to reply to this. Hope you don't mind Icon!

It is not like this is the first time an actress playing Lois doesn't have dark hair. Noel Neill had red hair too. Plus Lois had auburn hair in the comics for much of the 90's and early 2000's. Whatever, it's just another colour. If people are fixated on that to the detriment of their enjoyment of the film that's just sad. Makes me wonder what else they won't allow themselves to enjoy.

@cameron83:

How about they make a good movie first? Then we see it,Then the sequel will happen. But we the fans will not support a terrible franchise because it has the Superman name on it.

And the reason DC doesn't have a lot of movies out is because DC is terrible at marketing, and the people that direct these projects don't understand the characters. (see Wonder Woman pilot, Green Lantern, and Johna Hex)

@kingdomenic: Too right, the performance could be great, but with the little things changed you spend too much time noticing what "should have been" Why do films set in an established world if you are going and change a ton of small details for no real good reason? Is hair dye that hard to use?

For those of us who are a fan of the darkness, dark hair, it matters. Lois just isn't herself unless she has the darkness. It's going to be distracting.

I fail to see how that's the case. What if Amy looked almost exactly like Lois but didn't act like her at all? That's far more distracting. Teri Hatcher didn't have raven coloured hair and she gave a great performance as Lois Lane in Lois and Clark.

Eh, Lois having a different hair color is one of the smallest changes in this film. What about Perry White, for example? Or the (supposedly) monstrous Zod?

Amy Adams as Lois Lane was the best casting choice the film made.

I used to think little of Amy Adams. She always seemed to play those ditzy roles, like the one that made her famous in Enchanted. Then I saw her in the The Fighter, and she was awesome. Here's hoping she doesn't lose any of the tough, street-smarts that are central to Lois.
