3 New Clips X-Men: First Class—Sebastian Shaw Unleashes His Powers

Check these out if you're curious about seeing Kevin Bacon's moves in the movie.

The release of X-Men: First Class is getting closer. Just today, Ray did a character profile on Sebastian Shaw. Up until now, we haven't really seen him in action. We've only seen him sitting around on a couch with Emma Frost or Angel Salvadore.

It turns out we actually did see him in a previous trailer, only we (or at least I) thought it was Magneto. What does that mean? It means Sebastian Shaw is wearing a Magneto helmet for some reason!

So now we have an idea where Magneto gets the helmet.

Check out these other clips: == TEASER ==

There are even more clips floating around. What is your excitement level over this now?

Agreed, to block telepathy attacks, and I think thats what they'll use to explain how Magneto got the idea of using it...perhaps...

Watching those clips kind of makes me excited... =D

It just keeps getting better. And I thought it was gonna be lame.

Posted by HellionVulcan

I have little faith that this will be enjoyable since they've changed it from the comics but whats with Shaw doing that flame stuff didn't realize he could do that .

Posted by JonesDeini

Hmmm...I was down until Shaw blew things up with his feet.

i will watch it , but i feel its been kinnda spoiled by constant new plot related clips, As Babs said it i feel i have watched most of the key scenes  already now.

hmmmm, I wouldn't say it looks good, but it looks not as bad as before. Currently I'm thinking better than X-MenOrigins: Wolverine, maybe the same quality as X-3. And X-3 wasn't good.

All these clips!!....guess i don;t need to see the movie now.

I can't stand it when people say a movie is going to suck purely on the fact that it's different from the original material. While  familiarity is good in moderation, pulling straight from the comic could be boring for some and possibly alienate those unfamiliar to it. I like that they are choosing to go in a totally new direction, as long as they get the broad strokes right (pretty much just character behavior) and give an interesting story I am fine. Also this looks awesome.

Looks good.

@Babs: Agreed. That said, it did get my hype up for this movie. It doesn't look so bad, and they are far more interesting clips than the shitty ones Paramount is releasing for Transformers 3...which do absolutely nothing for hype.

Unfortunately there's one major anachronism with this movie.  The SR-71 Blackbird's maiden flight was not until 22 December 1964, and the Cuban Missile Crisis lasted for 13 days in the waning weeks of October, 1962.  One might say its the A-12 Oxcart but this cannot be, for if one looks at the plane tip its of a wider breadth reminiscent of the Blackbird and not the sleeker nose design of the Oxcart.  The only functional high rise reconnaissance craft that would be accurate of the time depicted in this movie would be the U-2, which would make more sense since it was a U-2 pilot who first found the presence of offensive Soviet missiles in Cuba.  Only issue is, the team couldn't possibly fit in a U-2 so, I guess we have to let artistic license rule the day here.

I must say I am so excited for this movie and cant wait to see it..
Yet I will say this.. I am so sick of people crying over the issue of the stories not matching the comic books because half of you damn fanboys dont even know the original Xmen story because the story has changed with each new rendition of the series.. Jubilee came into the story in the fox tv show, X23 came into the series during the warner brothers tv show..
then after which they played a huge role in the comics.. so to all you fanboys.. its not your time period now get over yourselves!

Shaw was absorbing the kinetic energy being released by that exploding rocket.

Agreed. lol
I would find it mundane to see the same story presented just put into a live-action film. Plots and stories can always change.  As long as the characters have their correct personalities and powers, I am satisfied, but that is just me.

i think i just came...

Is it me, or does Shaw kind of remind you of a Bond villain from these clips?

cant wait for this it really starting to look good!

@U R Sofa King We Todd Did: It's not even that's its veering from its original material, but that it's also not in continuity with the rest of the films, even though it claims it is.

thanks comicvine now i want to see it !!

Okay, I'm ready to see the movie now.

X men: The Magneto show.

I'm really excited about this! Each clip I see is better than the previous clips I see.
Kevin Bacon is gonna be awesome :D

Holy crap was the clip of Magneto and Banshee awesome.

Posted by Golden Cod

Is it me or does Magneto sound Scottish/Irish?

Posted by DoctorTrips

There are two things driving my wanting to see this; first the 1960s setting, it already got imaginary bonus points for that. Second is Magneto, who I think is probably going to steal the show. I'm really looking forward to seeing how the friendship between Xavier and Erik works in this.

Posted by riotman

I didn't know that Shaw could absorb bullets and explosions and then stomp an explosion out of the ground.

Posted by shockwave632

How can Magneto pull a sub out of the ocean without dragging the plane down????????

I m definitely seeing this movie for the bacon

The link provided to the SR-71's wiki page states that the maiden flight was in 1962, which makes it perfectly plausible to use as a black ops transport for the Cuban missile crisis of 1962. Not that I'm exactly an expert on all things relating to aviation so if i misunderstood please feel free to correct me.

Whoa cool!

didn't think I'd like bacon as shaw, but it's not looking so bad - even if it's not the best, the whole xavier/magneto dynamic should be enough to keep me interested.   but where's the love for emma frost?   sad as that sounds, I'm actually most looking forward to seeing how she turns out

In that first clip, who is the blonde supposed to be? For all I know she's Storm or Lady Shiva.

X-Awesome!

this looks so damn good now.  I didn't just think it was gonna suck (it still might) I thought it would be weak too.  Man I hope Im wrong.  These clips and commercials are getting me hard.

I dunno about the "fan boys," which I happen to be one myself...But, I'm excited about this flick....It looks good and I'm just glad they are making another comic movie. Regardless of the quality, I will see it nonetheless.......I liked clips! Excited!!

Posted by The Velvet Rabbit
@pixelized: i'm pretty sure the blonde's supposed to be mystique, but I could be wrong
Posted by ssejllenrad

Magneto and Shaw are both badasses! I'm gonna watch this just because of them two. I hope they get to explain all these inconsistencies with the other films.

@weaponxxx: The maiden flight was for the Oxcart craft in 1962, around April I believe.  The Oxcart was the precursor to the Blackbird so they are definitely not the same.  The Blackbird was still in classified production by CIA when the Oxcart was still an operational and functional craft.  So in a way you could theoretically be correct in saying that if there was a flight of Blackbird prior to the 1964 date mentioned it might have occurred.  After all, its not above black ops/intelligence to run classified missions prior to public awareness.  Nevertheless with just the public information provided it still stands that it was the Oxcart that was the functional aircraft in addition to the U-2 while, during the Missile Crisis, SR-71 was still just in shop. Then again to expand on this further the Blackbird was an expansion of the YF-12, M-12 and Valkyrie planes.  Alas, with the information we have, the only possible craft that historically would have been around for the Missile Crisis was either the Oxcart/A-12 or the U-2.

I love how The Magneto references that song by Disturbed called "Never Again" that is about the holocaust.
