Image has got this on lock

East of West and Nowhere Men were some of the best stuff in 2013

Edited by Farkam

Hawkeye is kicking ass.

Posted by Billy Batson

Good stuff, surprised not seeing Forsman, Fiffe or Prophet, though.

I'm just happy Jordie Bellaire is nominated.

Agreed 100%

also i get these awards don't really nominate big 2 comics but batman is the number 1 selling comic book every month and all the review sites i check (here, ign, CBR, batman news) never have gave snyder a lower than 8 (i dont think ign has given them a lower than a 9?)

just some food for thought

Edited by CrashBang

So glad Sex Criminals is getting recognised multiple times. Fraction is on fire at the moment and Image should own this whole thing!

I'm just happy Jordie Bellaire is nominated.

Eisners have nominated and given awards to comics from DC and Marvel before, and why would sales matter either way - Batman sells no matter what.

I'm pulling for Matt Hollingsworth this year....

They have a solid lineup this year......

Surprised Sorrentino isn't nominated as best artist!

These series are all better than Batman...

And Snyder is nominated for best writer.

Don't worry about the Einser's not being objective. When a VERY good mainstream comic comes out they surely nominate it. But last year the big two didn't have anything noteworthy except a handful of titles.

not a single nomination for Green Arrow?

you joking?

I was expecting Sorrentino to get nominated. The story is good but Sorrentino's art is the thing that truly makes this book great.

Posted by DonFelipe

Interesting nominations! I'm surprised but very happy for Colder being nominated for Best Limited Series. Well deserved, Paul Tobin and Juan Ferreyra!

Posted by noj

Oh come on Hawkeye gets WAY too much hype! Its good dont get me wrong but its really not THAT good. I liked it but the series lost me a few months ago after the long hiatus and honestly I have no reason to pick it back up.

Posted by DonFelipe

Note to self: Check out Watson & Holmes!

Posted by noj

Oh and its a freaking travesty to not see Andrea Sorrentino nominated for Green Arrow. Seriously the best art on the stands.

Agreed 100%

I also agree.

@fil123: Obviously not everyone agrees with that opinion.

Jordie Bellaire is the Queen of Colors !

Posted by longbowhunter

Not surprised to see Demeter get a nomination. I've loved all Becky Cloonan's self published stuff so far. Happy to see The Wake and Trillium get looked at for best limited series.

Where the hell is Jeff Lemire?

Lotta good stuff on here!

Hey just noticed Battling Boy got a nom for the 13-17 category. Finished that last week. Great read, fantastic art, leaves on a big cliffhanger. So excited for book two.

Posted by fil123

@squalleon: i wouldnt say all these series are better, anyway i was just wondering since every time im on a site theyre tossing out 9s like its nobodys business. and capullas are seems to be very underrated.

and the fact hawkeye is nominated is a huge joke, thats a rant for another time

Posted by Dark_Vengeance_

Richard Stark’s Parker: Slayground better win.

Batman doesn't deserve the 9s it gets IMO. And why someone would give a best series award to just another Batman origin, I mean when Wonder Woman or Green Arrow don't get a nomination I don't see why Batman should.
I agree about hawkeye, it is so hit or miss lately I am actually surprised it is there.
Cappulo isn't underrated he has a huge fanbase. The fact that he didn't get nominated THIS YEAR doesn't say much.

Posted by DrellAssassin

Greg Capullo, snubbed again. I feel he deserves it far more than Emma Rios, whose art is nice in Pretty Deadly but her action scenes are incomprehensible.

Posted by CaptainHoopla

It is an absolute criminal shame that Superior Foes of Spider-Man wasn't nominated for anything, especially when Hawkeye gets nominated when it's only had one good issue since last May.

I guess the Eisner's have officially become like the Oscars and Emmys.

Posted by LyraFay

Cool, I've actually read some of those. Except I've read Paul Pope's Battling Boy, I find it weird seeing in a tween section especially when I found more compelling than some of the "adult," comics. But so happy Francesco Francavilla's Black Beetle was nominated. EVERYBODY NEEDS TO READ IT!!

Cheering on for Pizza dog!

Hawkeye #11: “Pizza Is My Business,” by Matt Fraction and David Aja (Marvel)

and to the QUEEN OF COLOR

Jordie Bellaire, The Manhattan Projects, Nowhere Men, Pretty Deadly, Zero (Image); The Massive (Dark Horse); Tom Strong (DC); X-Files Season 10 (IDW); Captain Marvel, Journey into Mystery (Marvel); Numbercruncher (Titan); Quantum and Woody (Valiant)

Edited by MadeinBangladesh

Eh not a fan of the picks. Too much hype with Hawkeye, Saga, and Sex Criminals.

@noj AGREED. Hawkeye is kindof overrated even though I like it.

Happy to see Emma Rios and Scott Snyder on the list!

I'm just happy Jordie Bellaire is nominated.

Jordie Bellaire is an unsung hero, tbh. Her coloring can make a book and she's a freaking workhouse. Can't even count how many titles she's worked on in the last year.

Matt Fraction is getting a lot of love, but I'm really rooting for Kelly Sue DeConnick & Greg Rucka/Lazarus to win their respective categories.

If VAN JENSEN ever gets nominated for an Eisner... CV will probably explode! :D But yeah, tremendously happy that Jordie got nominated. I hope to get to meet her in-person (and in full-colour) one day.

I totally agree! Take Zero for example: if Jordie quits that book, cohesion from book to book will go down the drain as well. Her work speaks VOLUMES. Easily the hardest working gal in the industry, and I hope she wins.

Edited by Hassun

@captainhoopla: Hear hear!

If Hawkeye gets nominated Superior Foes of Spider-Man deserves to get doubly nominated.

Posted by BattheMan008

Looks like a pretty good list. Would like to have seen Superior Foes get a nomination for Humor Publication.

Yeah, this part right her.

Oh and I'm so glad to see Image owning the "Big 2", they totally deserve it.
