2000AD To Become Available At Local Comic Shops Weekly

Starting October 19th you will be able to purchase your 2000AD comics on a weekly basis.

For American and Canadian fans of 2000AD, it's been a waiting game for as long as they can remember. The only way for North American readers to obtain the British publication (which has been a weekly publication in Great Britain for nearly 35 years) is to order a $20 pack each month. However if you love 2000AD and have always wanted to read it weekly, we have good news for you.

The publisher of the popular series announced on their website earlier today that they would be releasing 2000AD weekly all across North America. The publication will now be available to order through Diamond Distributors.

No more waiting for $20 packs every month, you can now order EACH new weekly issue of 2000 AD direct from Diamond – arriving just two weeks after hitting stores in the UK.

But wait, that's not all. Those of you that love 2000AD's Judge Dredd Megazine will be pleased to learn that it will now be available across 400 Barnes and Nobles bookstores throughout North America. That's more Judge Dredd than you could have ever dreamed of, am I right? The "megazine" combines a variety of comics by top creators as well as features, interviews and movie reviews all in one and will be available monthly. While the 2000AD comic book will still be about two weeks behind the British release, fans of the books will still have the chance to get them weekly at their comic shops which is good news. 2000AD will be available at local comic shops weekly starting on October 19th, 2011.

News of this weekly release may have something to do with the recent rumors about an upcoming Judge Dredd movie, presently in the works to be released in September, 2012. No doubt, the publisher wants to capitalize on the film's release by making the comic more readily available in North America. Pretty smart move, we'd say. Add that to the rumor that Grant Morrison is currently writing a Rogue Trooper screenplay (based on the popular 2000AD character) and we think that 2000AD is wasting no time at all.

What do you think of the weekly 2000AD release? Are you looking forward to picking up Judge Dredd's Megazine and 2000AD at your local comic shops?

Thanks to Damswedon for the heads up!
