Valiant Comic's second FCBD special, but totally unnecessary.
FCBD 2014 Reviews: Future's End and Valiant Universe Handbook. Want to know what is in store for X-O Manowar and the Armor Hunters story arc? What about Rai in his new monthly series? Well Valiant Comics has a preview or two for you to wet your appetite for the Valiant 'Verse.
The Good
It was free. Thankfully, this Valiant comic was free and offered at FCBD 2014 for the price of nothing. And this free FCBD Valiant comic gave me a nice spread photo of the Valiant characters and a comic checklist for the Armor Hunters story arc; so I can keep track of the story as it spans from different comic books.
The Bad
It was a preview book. Sure it gave me a glimpse at Rai #1 and Armor Hunters #1, but Valiant did a good job at advertising Armor Hunters with nearly shoehorning it into every page of their "Valiant Universe Handbook." So it gave me an idea as to what to expect from Armor Hunters and Rai; I didn't need this preview book to convince me to pick up two series I already was convinced to buy in the handbook. I also don't like how X-O Manowar #24 was a preview in this special. The book was already released before this special, but I guess they needed to show it solely for advertising the Armor Hunters. Still though, they could've done it in a more subtle way.
The Verdict
If you need a reason to pick up Armor Hunters, Rai, or any of the other advertised books that will be released soon; I guess you could check this out? However, if you read the Valiant Universe handbook; you don't need this special. 1 out of 5.
