Archon Z'gmora was a Green Lantern who was lured into a trap and ambushed in a temporal dimension by a creature named N'Gon. N’Gon planned on stealing the Lantern’s power and using it to continue to wage battle against N’Gon’s enemy, a duplicate version of the creature itself.

Archon Z'gmora fought valiantly against his attacker however his strength was no match for N’Gon and Archon Z’gmora was mortally wounded in battle. In a last ditched effort, the Lantern destroyed his power ring rather then allow it to fall into the monster’s hands. With his last breath he called Hal Jordan for help.

Jordan was initially surprised that Archon Z'gmora would contact him for assistance since the two Lanterns hadn't been on friendly terms since an incident on Altair-Four. According to Hal Jordan, Archon Z'gmora was close friends with both Norchavius and Zuron. Although he was resolved to assist a fellow Green Lantern in need, Jordan was curious as to why Archon Z'gmora had contacted his trusted friends first.

Jordan was lured into the same trap as the fallen Lantern and faced the deadly N’Gon, discovering just how dangerous the Lantern killer was. Using the power of his ring, the Green Lantern of Earth split his body in two and separated his physical shell from his spirit/astral form.

Denied the Lantern’s full might, N’Gon sought out a more powerful victim to ensnare in his trap. N'Gon set his sights on Superman; however, unknown to the villain Jordan had reintegrated his body and warned the Kryptonian of the ambush planned. Together the Green Lantern and Superman defeated N'Gon, and avenged Archon Z'gmora.

Archon Z'gmora's body resides in the Crypts of the Green Lantern Corps on Oa.
