Veroncia: The Wedding.
Continuing the story of Archie and Veronica's wedding. Last issue, they became engaged and this issues is the wedding.
Reading this with my daughter was a cute time. She really enjoyed the wedding part. One thing we both enjoyed was the two page spread picture of them being pronounced husband and wife. It was a good picture with almost everybody in the Archie "world" in the picture. The thing that stuck out to me was Betty with a tear in her eye. Happy or sad?
We also like the fact that Archie made all his friends feel great in this issue. From Veronica getting cold feet to Betty being sad about not being the bride to be, to even Reggie getting a dose of Archie positive attitude.
We got a big chuckle out of the food fight. How many weddings have you been to that have had a food fight?
This is probably not how the authors intended this comic to be, but the whole Archie getting married theme has give me a chance to reflect on why my wife and I got married and take time to discuss these things with my daughter. Why do people fall in love, get married, etc. We could talk about what is happening in the wedding and how her mom and I did those things... cutting the cake, giving the toasts, etc.
It's been a fun read so far for both of us. I can't wait to find out what Part 3 has in store for us.
