Falls prey to a pitfall of the medium.

This issue is more traditional in its tale of mythological heroism, such as that found in most sword and sorcery tales, or ancient myths (such as that of Gilgamesh which is partially retold herein). But it also falls prey to a pet peeve of mine found in such comic adaptations: the exaggeration of things to make them more 'visual' for the comics medium. Roy Thomas and his various artists have done that before - I'm thinking in particular of the Adaptation of R.E. Howard's 'Red Nails' he did for Marvel - and they do it here again, making scorpion men guardians with laser tails and whatnot... Anyway, at least Roy and Dann are keeping to the mythologies of the regions where Arak travels; and the art quality remains high, so it's not a waste if time - just a little less good than the last several issues have been.
