Sword and Sorcery by the Numbers
Arak and Malagigi are beset by highwaymen. They defeat the brigands, but vow to take their last dying man home to his village. When they arrive, they discover the village lives under the boot of a wizard warlord, and his armored enforcer, the Iron Maiden... both of whom are known to Malagigi. The pair set out to take on these foes using what little resources they have.
There is nothing bad, or wrong with this issue of Arak, Son of Thunder. In fact, it could be argued that it does everything right. It is, a by-the-book sword and sorcery tale that could just as easily have been written by R.E. Howard or Fritz Leiber. If you are a fan of the genre, it will meet your expectations, if you are not... well, it will meet your expectations as well.
