Superman is the archtype character. There are so many character like him.

Captain Ersatz characters are common in comics.

Yes, that's the point of the character. It's homage/ripoff/parody but just different enough that they can't sue. That's the whole point of the character. It is a very common practice.

Look at Goku.

• Parents will killed on a planet that was blown up
• Landed on Earth
• Raised by an adoptive parent
• Finds out he's an alien
• Chooses to defend the planet from evil
