With all of the 'New 52' talk, it's easy to overlook how long some of the DC Comics characters have been around. Last week Supergirl celebrated her birthday and Sunday, September 24, Aquaman is celebrating his 70th birthday.
It was AquamanShrine.com that brought this to our attention. On September 25, 1941, More Fun Comics #73 went on sale and introduced the world to Aquaman (actually it was also the first appearance of Green Arrow as well).
To honor Aquaman's big day, the Aquaman Shrine will be throwing a 'party' to mark the special day with Dan Abnett, Tony Bedard, Kurt Busiek, Nick Cardy, J.M. DeMatteis, Ramona Fradon, Patrick Gleason, Dan Jurgens, Paul Levitz and Joe Prado sharing their unique perspectives with fans, friends and family of Arthur Curry.
The Aquaman Shrine will also follow up the big 70th birthday party with exclusive content from Aquaman artist Ivan Reis everyday leading up to the release of Aquaman #1 (written by Geoff Johns) on September 28.
So what do you get the master of the oceans for his birthday?
