Quite a few people weren't very happy about Aquaman not being included in Justice League: War, but the credits scene delivered a major teaser and implied he'll have a big role in the animated universe's future. Additionally, it was previously confirmed (by Geoff Johns on Twitter) that Arthur Curry would indeed play a bigger role in an upcoming DC animated movie. Naturally, many of us began to suspect Throne of Atlantis would serve as the inspiration. Not only was it a relatively recent event in The New 52 universe, but it was thoroughly awesome, too! Aquaman's world was front and center, yet the action-packed story still managed to incorporate the Justice League quite well. It has so many cinematic and epic moments, so it's no surprise they've selected this to serve as the inspiration for a new animated movie! According to the back of Batman: Assault on Arkham's box, the movie will be called Justice League: Throne of Atlantis.

Please don't be an underwhelming plot driven mess like the last two features.

His own animated movie, being cast in B Vs S and two ongoings. Man, is Aquaman feeling the love these days!

Aquaman will be replaced by Cyborg in his own movie.

We were told Aquaman would eventually get his time in the spotlight and the credits scene in Justice League: War implied this would be the story they're using, but the actual project has never been officially confirmed/announced... until this image, that is.

It comes out in August. I'll add that to the article to avoid any potential confusion.

I haven't been pleased with the last couple DC animated movies. Still, I plan on giving this a go. Throne of Atlantis was a great story.

Honestly, I am disappointed in this idea of releasing slightly tweaked versions of recently printed stories, it just seems lazy. Plus it's not aided by their picks of pretty dreadful stories to base them on.

I would think because WW is pretty much immune to magic and later in the story Aquaman tanks the lightning no problem.

That story arc was garbage and if Justice League War is any indicator, this movie will suck too, so I don't have any hopes for this movie. :/

These DTV films went downhill after Bruce Timm left, so I am not really interested. The writing hasn't been good or compelling or mature like JLU. The animation style looks too anime and has a lot of noticeable flaws... The absence of John Stewart irks me. *Sigh*, I want to be a fan again, but things need to change first. At least I can go back and watch the old stuff.

Nice! I enjoyed Johns' run on Aquaman and Throne of Atlantis was pretty cool. I liked that Aquaman was not a joke anymore. This is the guy that stopped the Crime Syndicate in the Earth-2 graphic novel. Aquaman and J'onn J'onzz made the difference.

This was sort of obvious by the last scene of War, but that's still pretty cool.

You know, I am not a fan of the art style of the DCAU. I couldnt watch batman & Superman because I didnt like how they looked the same. But when I finally did, it was awesome. & while today 20 years later I still am not a fan of the style, it is still the BEST compared to everything else DC has released in terms of animation. Granted I have not seen all the one-shot movies, only anything posted on Netflix. I just finished S1 of YoungJustice, nearly 10 years later , DC's animation still isnt any good. & I think Marvel is actually uglier.

American animation needs to realize that if they want to compete they need to put more detail into it like most anime's do. Anime is not perfect, but at least the characters look better most of the time.

Unless they just want to target the little 5 year old kiddies who dont have the money & after 5 minutes no longer give a darn because something shiney/new just caught their attention.

& of course giving all the girls a large pair of bouncies & panty shots wont hurt either.

It's time to listen to some Aqua music.

This was the only good Justice League story but that's only because it was tied into Geoff John's Aquaman run.

And of course, I'm talking about the New 52 because there a bunch of good Justice League story arcs before Flashpoint that should be and have been animated movies.

Don't really care for US animation - at all - regardless of the company but I'll watch it if its good. Hopefully it is cos Arthur

This is cool, I mean I liked the comic, so the animated movie might be good too.

Cool! The comic itself was really cool, the tease at the end of Justice League War gave it away... still, can't wait for assault on arkham!

Please, please, please be better than Justice League: War and Son of Batman. Get back to character driven plots rather than these hour-long action scenes that are for some reason being labeled movies.

I hope that some aspects from New 52 Aquaman's first arc are incorporated into the film (namely, the way that the world views Aquaman as a joke). And I pray that the animation and voice acting better than JL:W and Flashpoint good.

All in all, it's exciting to see Arthur get the spotlight. Hopefully he'll end the streak of piss poor animated movies.

Aqualame should never ever be the center of attention unless its to be ridiculed. I just hope he talks to fish in this soon to be stellar DCU installment.

Oh yippee. Another animated flick that DC is using to distract us from how lazy they are with real movies. Well, at least this one will be about Aquaman.

@ Amazingwebhead, how are DC lazy? lol their DC animated movies, games are far better then Marvel's lol. And DC's past few films were really successful so don't know what you're smoking lol. If anyone's lazy it's Marvel crappy shows like MAOS and Agent Carter? Because we totally care about that character...lol
