I was never a fan of the Fish-King, but this is the book to change my mind. This series really opens your eyes to what Aqua-man's fault was. The hero was there he was just never written quite the right way. He only ever concerned himself with the ocean and he never really chose a side. Mr Johns is doing to Mr.Curry what he did to The big green Spark and taking a new approach. This is the first big battle we have seen in a book and a nice little display of what he can do against a large group. It...

    One less than before 5

Coming out of the gate in the new 52, I really had no expectations for this series whatsoever.  I have never been an Aquaman fan but I still had somewhat of an awareness of the character from the occasional issue I read.  This series as it stands at the moment is probably the strongest one going at DC (granted I don't read every single title.)  The writing here is superb with an excellent concept behind it and well paced action.  The characters themselves are also extremely well written, with fa...

A complete waste of time... 0

Art - The art is average as are the colors. What really bugs me is that Aquaman and Mera have permanent scowls, but other than that the only thing notable is that the first page is wonderfully expressive and quite a good piece of art by itself.Story - The story in this issue blows. It is a complete waste of everyone's time. It doesn't progress the story at all. We get like 9 pages of a fight scene that ended last issue, a pointless revelation that is revealed on the first page, an introduction o...

Everyone Should Be Reading This 0

The Story: Aquaman fights creatures from the Trench. Afterwards he takes the body of one of the creatures to an old acquaintance of his to gain more knowledge on this species.  My Thoughts:Aquaman has been one of my favorite series coming out of the new 52. I might rank it second to only Batman in all honesty. I've been loving what Geoff Johns has been doing and just the whole vibe he's bringing each issue. Hopefully more people will begin to give Aquaman the respect he deserves. He has been an ...

Rising Down the Deep Trench 0

The Good: I love the watercolor ephemeral look of the first page. It sets such a heartwarming calming tone that constrasts greatly with the hardened scowl Aquaman wears now, and the dialogue segues right into the story excellently. We get some offhand dialogue from a nature doccumentary which really adds to the deeper complexity of The Trench. They could very easily be a flat and blank threat, but Aquaman realizes that they could just be trying to survive. He killed a few without remorse, but in...

    Aquaman # 3 0

Aqua Man # 3Geoff Johns shows a strong in dept character like Aqua Man played very solid. The best issue yet I have to say and seeing Merla come on passionate and strong shows a lot of strength in this character. We learn somewhat more of our new mysterious villains in this issue. As the mystery unfolds we will find more to come. I am just excited how Aqua Man will move through the cynicism of how the media portrays him. This book is just around of applause! Great work by Geoff Johns and Ivan Re...

This is the High Tide of Aquaman's Career 0

Three issues into the series and still going strong. While I don't think this issue crackles with as much excitement as the first two issues, it's still quite good. It begins with a bang - Aquaman, Mera and a whole bunch of law enforcement types take on a whole pack of the Cannibals of the Deep!   But there are several things that marred this issue and kept it from being a 4.5 or 5 star issue: For one, this battle is it's a bit confused looking compared to previous fights - which I guess was the...

Aquaman: King of the sea, King of DC 0

Following from the previous issue Aquaman continues to fight the fish monsters and continues to be awesome. It's a pretty solid fight with a lot of gore. The creatures retreat for some reason with the implication being that they are harmed by sunlight, though that's never stated it's just my theory. Aquaman believes that some of those who were taken by these creatures are still alive and decides to go after them, but first, he takes the corpse of one of the fish creaturees to be analyzed by some...
