Aqualad returns, seeking the Sea King's help in locating a sunken nuclear submarine! This leads to a fierce battle with the villainous Charybdis, who holds hostage someone who will come to mean a lot to the Sea King: Dolphin.

Aquaman is sleeping in the Aquacave having vivid dreams of monsters, while Aqualad has come to investigate why no one has heard from the Sea King in weeks. Garth then attempts to bring Aquaman out of his shell then, attacking him before being battered by Aquaman. The duo then depart from the Aquacave, heading to assist the navy in finding a lost nuclear sub, and require the aquatic heroes aid much to Aquaman's suspicion.

The two then don radiation suits and investigate the sub on Strom's orders, where they find the crew dead. They are then ambushed by a man, called Charybdis who used the navy to lure Aquaman and Aqualad to him by threatening to crack the nuclear core if the Navy revealed he was waiting for them. Aquaman is then captured by the villain and taken to his lair, where he meets his other captive Dolphin. While elsewhere a bleeding Aqualad floats through the ocean being circled by several sharks.
