Aquaman issue #0 is a book that I would only recommend if you are already a fan of the ongoing series. The reason being that even though the book does a good job of helping to flesh out how this version of Aquaman came to be, there isn't a lot of action, and at times the book can seem sort of dull. Overall, this is a very serviceable issue, but I would only recommend it if you are already a fan of the series, as the lack of action may deter the casual fan.
This has been overall an amazing series so far it has taken a character who has been by many, and I must admit myself included considers a joke. The opening of this issue retreads a flashback we've seen before, but using new perspectives, digging deeper and putting the whole thing in a more emotional and personal light.
