Ant Wars originally appeared in 2000ad for a 15 episode run (issues 71-85, in 1978). It was later reprinted in Eagle from issue 217 to 231.

Ant Wars was written by Gerry Finley-Day and illustrated by Jose Ferrer (parts 1-2, 5, 9), Lozano (part 3), Azpiri (parts 4, 6-8, 10-14) and finally Pena (part 15).

In 2005 a three-part series by Simon Spurrier and Cam Kennedy, set in the word of Judge Dredd, appeared in the Megazine (issues 231-233).

A spiritual successor to the original series - it was set in the lost city of Zancudo Picchu, where giant mosquitos lord it over human slaves and where their old enemy, the giant ant, still roams. It starred doomed Judges Xavi Ancizar and Sofia Perez, who's craft is brought down in the jungle while transporting psychic psycho Fendito 'the Bandito'.
