On her Instagram account, actress Evangeline Lily posted a couple pictures of her new hairdo, which has her looking suspiciously like Janet Van Dyne AKA The Wasp. Well, that would make a ton of sense, since Lily is playing Hope Van Dyne, daughter of Janet in 2015's Ant-Man.

We also get to see a shot of Lily and Paul Rudd, playing Scott Lang AKA Ant-man, together.

The haircut is a throwback to one of the many hairstyles Janet Van Dyne had in the comics. And while these are just photos of someone's new style they're rocking for a film, it leads a lot of us to wonder if we'll catch a glimpse or two of Wasp in this film, whether it's Janet or Hope in the role. In the comic book universe, there is no 616 universe Hope Van Dyne (there is an M2 Universe one though), but seeing as though Marvel has already made some bigger changes to the Ant-Man mythos, just from what we know, the addition of Lily as the daughter of Janet seems like a good deal.

Ant-Man also features Michael Douglas and Corey Stoll and is expected to hit theaters on July 17th, 2015

@inferiorego: Umm...Mat there is a Hope Van Dyne in comic book universe. She's in the MC2 universe and I think they might use some storyline references from that universe not so sure.

Because they want to go with an older Pym who has been active for a long time and has ties to Howard Stark, plus an awesome mentor relationship with Lang.

Much as I'm dreading the movie, I do like the haircut. Very Wasp-ish.

I feel like they are trying hard to avoid the Giant Man in the room there though.

That by no means is my personal opinion on Hank Pym, I actually love him a ton after Avenger Academy. But Pym's marriage in pop culture is to him, like Super Friends was to Aquaman. And I'm not sure if that damage can be fixed easily.

@teerack: they didn't push Hank out of being Ant-Man. He was Ant man in the comics and then stopped and the same could be said for the MCU version. They pushed him out of his Avengers status and creation of Ultron.

Which is a huge part of Hank character. Imagine Superman not being the founder of JL.

As much as I love Evangeline Lily and as much as I love the WASP-iness of that haircut (see what I did there), I just can't get too psyched for this movie. I've been burned on too many Marvel movies to get excited for this one.

Again, why not just make her Janet? If she's going to look like Janet, be Wasp like Janet, be involved with an Ant-Man like Janet was then why not just change the H-O-P-E in her name to J-A-N-E-T. Why does she have to be old just because Hank is too? I don't mind change that's necessary but this just bothers me so much, there's nothing wrong with Janet as a character and she's not necessarily defined by Hank. If they didn't want to address the dynamic between Janet and Hank then they wouldn't have to if in this iteration they were never involved. OR why couldn't they make Janet be named after her mother?! AAaaaaggh.

While they're in production they should just stop being so silly, pay respect to an iconic character you've cashed in on for Pete's sake!
