After much speculation as to when the Ant-Man movie would come out, it has been confirmed that the film will be out November 6th 2015. As you are well aware of this is after The Avengers 2, so we don't know if this still counts as Phase Two or the beginning of Phase Three and if Ant-Man will be in The Avengers 2 or not. (They have also confirmed that Iron Man 3 & Thor: The Dark World will be in 3D no word on other films yet.)
Ant-Man
Movie » Ant-Man released on July 17, 2015.
A Marvel Studios film, and the first live-action adaptation of Ant-Man, starring Paul Rudd, and Michael Douglas.
Ant-Man movie has official release date.
Damn. You beat me to it. This is awesome news. A bummer that we have to wait a bit longer, but great things take time. I'm excited :)
@guttridgeb: He still could be! Apparently AIM will be playing a part in Ant-Man, and AIM was already confirmed to be in Iron Man 3. Maybe Avengers 2 will bridge the two movies, and Ant-Man will be some sort of spin-off

OK, now I feel like a jerk because the only reason I was going to watch this movie was because of Edgar Wright. Can you please recommend me some Ant-Man comics?
@SmashBrawler: Absolutely.
- Ant-Man: Season One- This came out a few months ago, and explains in detail Hank Pym's origin. It's not the best written story by any means, but it's important.
- The Irredeemable Ant-Man- Robert Kirkman introduces Eric O'Grady, the third Ant-Man. A great series, and O'Grady is a lovable character.
- The Mighty Avengers (Slott's run)- Pym leads a team of Avengers, and calls Reed Richards a bitch.
- Ant-Man & The Wasp- Hank Pym and O'Grady team up to fight AIM. A great mini-series that further defines Pym's badassery and O'Grady's lovableness.
There are a few more, which go into Pym's mental problems (I believe it's Avengers #212 to about #229, but I'm not entirely positive.) Pym also played a role in the original Kree/Skrull War. Anything with Ultron is also worth picking up, as Pym is his daddy.
There's also a few great episodes of Avengers: EMH to watch as well:
- Man on the Ant-Hill- Pym and Wasp fight Klaw in Wakanda.
- Ultron (forget the actual episode name)- Ultron becomes sentient.
- To Steal an Ant-Man- Scott Lang steals Pym's equipment and becomes the second Ant-Man.
- Yellowjacket- Pym undergoes a breakdown and becomes a new superhero altogether: Yellowjacket.
Hope I helped! :D
@Lvenger: It's happening and that's all I ever wanted. I'll wait as long as Wright wants me to now :)
i'm still amazed they're doing ant-man. who wanted this hero? did they do a survey or something? they better have a really good script because my gut says this will bomb really badly. dont get me wrong i want it to succeed but come on, it ant-man!
@SmashBrawler: I seriously recommend those Avengers EMH episodes, as I disliked the notion of Ant Man until I watched that cartoon
@Loki9876: Awesome, man, this should be huge for you.
I just thought that for most of the comic readers, Ant Man ranks pretty far down the list of potential things they'd like to see as movie properties.
@Crash_Recovery: I'm with you that I'm amazed that Ant-Man's happening before characters like Wonder Woman, Flash, Black Panther, and Dr. Strange get a movie. Honestly though, it's refreshing to see that they're taking a risk with a lesser-known character like Pym, and giving him a chance to shine. I do agree that it's odd that they're going with him before some other heavy-hitters, but I'm really glad they're doing it.

Why?

Here's the thing: Have they announced that it's Hank Pym or strictly that they're doing Ant-Man?
That's an issue. It's been said that they'll be bouncing back from Pym to Lang, but that they'll both be in it. Nothing's been really said about it post-SDCC. Personally I think it's going to be about Lang (which is meh to me), and Pym will act as a mentor of sorts. It's a safe bet that O'Grady probably won't be appearing in the movie, though.

@Gambit1024: idk. i have a really bad feeling about it.
Well you shouldn't :)
GotG is the one I'm worrying about. The whole space thing hasn't sat well with a lot of the reviews I've read.
