The reptilian mutant known as Anole was a student at the Xavier Institute. Openly gay and once leader of the Alpha Squadron, he was recently promoted to the New X-Men squad before it disbanded.
Anole's original look
History
Born and raised in small-town America, Victor is a sixteen year old mutant who grew up despite his mutation and appearance. The neighborhood he grew up in a small community that accepted him for who he was until Anti-mutant feelings spread and threatened his safety, as a result Victor was sent off to Xavier's school where he quickly excelled academically and made close friends with Northstar who subsequently helped him come to terms with his sexuality.
When he later 'came out' to all his friends, all of them already were aware that he was gay, except for Rockslide.
Student Life
When advisors were being assigned, Victor at first chose Karma but was reassigned to Northstar where he was friendly towards Julian Keller of the Hellions but now seems closer towards his own teammates. When Northstar was killed by Wolverine Victor was deeply affected, he as well as the rest of the new mutants were unaware of Northstar's resurrection via the Hand.
Decimation
In the wake of the House Of M more than 90% of the mutant population lost their mutant powers, however, Anole was spared and his team Alpha Squadron along with the Hellions and New Mutants were all merged into one team. Shortly after that Emma Frost called for an all out brawl to decide who would lead this new mutant group, though Anole was not selected but still remained at the Institute to further his training.
Quest For Magik
Anole's current look
Anole and his friends are being told a story by Blindfold, who then revealed the story to be real just as Anole and his friends were dragged into Limbo. After Rockslide was apparently destroyed by a demon, Victor attempts took charge, only to get his arm cut off by a demon. Victor wondered why it didn't hurt and why he did not die of blood loss. Victor along with the rest of the group were trapped, as Illyana Rasputin tried to take Pixie's soul to make a soul sword. After hearing some cryptic advice from Blindfold, Anole broke free of his stone entraptment and grew a new arm, looking similar to the carapace on his scalp. He broke free to save Pixie. Later Belasco was killed and Illyana became the ruler of Limbo. Anole and his friends got out of Limbo, for the most part, safely.
When both teams that were in Limbo made it back, Rockslide demanded that Anole and Pixie be allowed to join the New X-Men team, or he would leave the team. The New X-Men accepted the two new additions and Victor is now a New X-Man

Messiah Complex
When Surge set out to infiltrate the Purifiers, Anole was among the group, although he was somewhat reluctant. He only went along to help the baby; he was not out for revenge. Using his sneaky abilities and computer skills, he was able to find out that the Purifiers did not possess the mutant baby and also met up with Rictor, who was sent on the same mission by Cyclops. The New X-Men were ambushed by Lady Deathstrike and the Reavers, but Pixie managed to teleport them to safety. Later, Pixie also teleported them, along with Predator X to Muir Island, where the final battle for the mutant baby took place.
Divided We Stand
Victor makes an appearance in the first issue of Divided We Stand, having returned to his hometown of Farebury, Illinois. Northstar finds him under Cyclops' orders, as he has apparently been out of contact with the former X-Men since the events of Messiah Complex. Northstar believes that he has become outcast because of his mutation and his sexuality, but Victor tells him otherwise. Anole tells Northstar that the X-Men have just used him for their own needs and he feels he no longer belongs there, as they have taken away his ability to be a child. He has left his parents a note, and has planned to leave his home. He elbows Northstar in the face and leaves, telling him that he and his old teammates should stay away.
Powers
In appearance Anole resembles that of a lizard/human hybrid. He is covered in green scales, has no hair, spikes covering a small portion of his body which includes a spiked carapace atop his head and a prehensile tongue. In addition to his physical features he, too, has a number of superhuman attributes including:
Enhanced Speed:
Capable of moving and running slightly faster than a normal human, but he is not on par with powered speedsters.
Superhuman Stamina:
Anole's muscles produce far less fatigue toxins during physical activity than the muscles of an average human. He can exert himself at peak capacity for several hours before fatigue impairs her.
Regenerative Healing Factor:
Anole possess a healing factor, though not on par with Wolverine He has shown the ability to re-grow limbs from his body once the older one has been removed. In such an incident the body part the replaces the old is larger in appearance and apparently greatly strengthen as well. It is unknown if his entire body with share the same mutation or if it is a limited mutation.
Superhuman Agility:
Anole's natural agility, balance, and coordination are enhanced to increased levels, allowing him to perform feats that those of normal agility would find incredibly hard to do.
Superhuman Reflexes:
He has the reaction time that is roughly half of that of normal base-line human's.
Razor Sharp Spikes & Claws:
As part of his physical mutation, Anole has spikes that appear on his scalp. His regrown arm also has razor sharp claws allowing for greater battle prowess
Wallcrawling:
Anole has the ability to stick to and climb walls or any substance. It is very similar to that of Spider-Man.
Prehensile Tongue:
Anole has an incredibly long tongue (apparently longer than his own body length) which he is capable of rapidly and abruptly extending out of the mouth. The tongue has a sticky tip on the end, which serves to catch anything that he would otherwise never be able to reach.
Camouflage Ability:
Anole possesses superhuman ability to alter his skin color and appearance enabling him to copy that of any surface he stands against.
Strength Level:
Anole possesses superhuman strength enabling him to lift weights to, as of yet, unmeasurable levels. However this power is only in his right arm, and only appeared after regrowing his limb.
**During the Quest For Magik arc, his right arm was severed at the shoulder and he has grown it back covered with the same carapace that covers his scalp. This arm has been shown to provide Anole with super-strength. The new arm also has sharp spikes and claws on the hand. Beast has examined him and confirmed that whenever he would lose a limb a new one would grow out, stronger than before. Rockslide and X-23offered him help with dismembering, but Anole declined.
Special Talents, Skills, and Qualifications
Anole is a formidable hand to hand combatant, trained by none other than the likes of Wolverine and others that taught him at the Xavier Institute.
Anole is very interested in Theater, and as a result, Victor is a very talented actor. In fact, he was voted 'Best Actor' by the student body of the Xavier Institute.
He is also very into sports, liking Basketball and Frisbee best. Because he plays a bit, he is naturally very agile without his mutation.
Victor also knows a little French.
Victor has shown a natural aptitude for leadership. He was the squad leader for his group the Alpha Squadron and has been referred to and defaulted to as leader in multiple missions with he was promoted to active field duty in the New X-Men.

In physical appearance, Anole appears more lizard-like than human-like. This includes green scales and a spiked carapace on his head. Additionally his arm was severed and grew back almost immediately. When it regrew it was bulkier, larger, and seemingly much more muscular. It also was spikier then any other part of his body.

Alternate Realities

House of M
In this re-envisioned/recreated version of Earth-616 world of Scarlet Witch, mutants are the majority and are in power and baseline humans are forced to live in hiding. Here the roles are very much the opposite of the mainstream Earth. Young mutants and their burgeoning mutant powers now have two options for their future schools and futures and mutants in society. They can either pick between the New Mutant Leadership Institute, ran by Xi'an Coy Mahn (Karma), where here they develop the future diplomats and leaders of the world, though they do not get combat training and tend to enroll mutants with passive powers. The other option is to join the SHIELD training program, ran bySebastian Shaw. It is here they have a more military training focusing on warfare and covert operations and enroll mutants with active battle ready powers. The training team is called the Hellions. This group included Scion (Earth-616's Hellion), Magik (Illyana Rasputin), Synch, Quill, Surge, Wind Dancer (now known as Renascence), Anole & Danielle Moonstar. Moonstar is a fully-fledged S.H.I.E.L.D. operative and is assigned to the training of the Hellions. Though she is the trainer she does participate in active battle with them. Her assistant trainers are the twin mutant siblingsAurora and Northstar.
In this reality Anole is not yet field ready and is in the beginning stages of the SHIELD training department. He is shown being training by Aurora and Northstar along with a few other newer recruits.
