So, I see a lot of negativity around this book. Odd, because I enjoyed it. Mind you, I have been consistantly enjoying DnA's work for years, while they languished away in obscurity while others did steaming dumps on properties. In this issue, we have two stories. The first takes off directly after the end of the Thanos Imperative. We have some of the most amazingly powerful people in the Universe gather together, because Peter Quill thought that they'd be better to deal with cosmic threats than the GoTG. They probably are in a way, but I get the feeling that DnA are establishing that yes, these guys are harder than a woman eating hammers, and yes, they're so powerful Galactus probably wants the day off when they go charging around. I think DnA are actually building it up so that these guys WONT be as successful as the GoTG. They're probably pull it out the hat, but the feeling I am getting is that for all their power and skills they won't measure up to a little animal, some random guys with guns, a psychic woman and a dude with a shield. Arts lovely by Tan Eng Haut, as always.
The "Back Up" gives us some history on Groot, and I have to say, I don't think the I am Groot thing was intended to be used this much, but i Disagree with the reviewer above. It's not been run into the ground, because it's turned from being a joke into an actual saying. A Catchphrase, or something. It's interesting to have a nuanced language that's more tonal and inference than content. It's alien after all. Anyway, we have Rocket off to find Groot after a deeply unsatisfying event for the first part of the issue, and then we get the Space Trucker (Wicked. Crazy continuity. Crazy). Lovely art again by Timothy Green. Basically, this is the dogs genitalia. Go and buy it.
