Ok this is like the 12th time I am trying this.
My friend and I were discussing people to play certain characters in teh series and this is the list we came up with.
Anita Blake
Character » Anita Blake appears in 57 issues.
Anita Blake is an animator, legal vampire executioner and consultant to the local St. Louis police force paranormal unit. The comics are based on the book series by Laurell K. Hamilton.
Anita Blake Movie Cast
Dwayne Johnson as Sgt. Rudolph "Dolph" Storr - YES!
Eliza Dushku as Anita Blake - maybe... but to tall though...
Don Henrie as Jean-Claude (this one is debatable) - NO!!!!!
Dakota Fanning as Nikolaos - YES!!!!
Stuart Townsend as Richard - MAYBE... DUNNO... CAN'T REALLY SEE HIM IN THE ROLE....
and to add my two cents worth, i state Brad Pitt as Edward...
M
I agree about Don Henrie. I just cant see anyone out there who is Jean Claude esq. But definately Pitt as Edward.. I never even pictured that!
Dwayne Johnson as Sgt. Rudolph "Dolph" Storr and Dakota Fanning as Nikolaos are oke
Brad Pitt as Edward is a good one too.
Eliza Dushku as Anita Blake and Stuart Townsend as Richard, I'm not sure
Yes Jean Claude is going to be a difficult one,
what about Billi Wirth?
And Kyle Schmid as Philip?
Smoking and Sexy.
Or Smoking Sexy. One of the two, I think. shrugs I just use it to describe anyone or thing who I think is undescribably hot, both physically and mentally. For instance, I think that Keira Knightley, Jared Padalecki(don't get any ideas..he merely my favorite actor), and Power Rangers are all smexy.

I can deal with Schmid as Phillip.
I had an idea for Richard... Ryan reynolds.. Yes i am a total fangirl xP
But pix has someone is his gallery that could be Jean-Claude
Ah, and here I was thinking there was actually some real casting news. Not knocking the thread. I haven't read the books (just the comics). I wouldn't mind seeing a live-action. There's too many crappy adaptions out there. Why not something more interesting? This series is popular for a reason.
So I got nothing to say except yeah, Eliza's hot. I'll even watch her DOLLHOUSE tv show that's coming out this fall.
No Sorry to disappoint you G-Man. I was just fantacizing about if it would happen. But I fear that it would never happen in any form other then the books and the comics. The books get more R-rated as they progress. It will be interesting to see what will happen as they get adapted into the comics. I dont forsee Marvel actually showing all the many sexual incounters she has.
And Yes Eliza is rather fetching :D
Since we are all throwing out suggestions I thought I'd throw out mine too. Please don't be too critical of my suggestions these are just a few of my favorite actors. And just throwing them out there for conversational purposes.
Jenny
Anite Blake - Julianna Marguiles
Richard - Ralph Fiennes
Jean Claude - Joaquin Pheonix (with long curly hair) or David Boreanaz( lets face it as angel he was awesome he does the brooding vampire very well)
Edward - James Spader
Jason - James Marsden
Nikolaos - Dakota Fanning (i sooo agree)
"Ok this is like the 12th time I am trying this.Totally think eliza would be great but she just doesnt have the right facial attribites for it

Id say the chick that played Jill valentine in resident evil apocalypse would be great for the part
Dwayne Johnson as Sgt. Rudolph "Dolph" Storr
I've been thinking about this for a few years. And now that a movie is in the works, I can dream until the cast is posted on IMDB. :)Gerard Butler as Richard would be hot.
Hmm, not sure the Dwight Johnson is old enough to play Sgt. Dolph. Dakota is perfect. Now, Stuart Towndsend for Jean-Claude makes a bit more sense for me. He is the right build and height. Remember, Jean-Claude is good looking, in that way men can be feminine but still male. Ooh,
*Is creeped out how much Dakota looks like the comic version of Nikolaos*

If anyone is keeping score...I vote:
But pix has someone is his gallery that could be Jean-Claude"Do you mean the naked guy sweeping his wet hair around? ;) He would do I think.
So the score till now, ( I had nothing to do ;)
Anita Blake: Eliza Dushku 3, Michelle Rodriguez 3 (I would go with her too, like her attitude), Juliana Margulies1
Jean Claude: Don Henrie, Joaquin Phoenix (too bad he stopped acting), David Boreanaz, Matthew Macfaydon, Tom Welling, Stuart Townsend
Richard: Gerard Butler 2, Stuart Townsend, Ryan Reynold, Ralph Fiennes
Nikolaos: 6 definitely
Dolph: Dwayne Johnson 5
Philip: Kyle Schmid 2
Jason: James Marsden
Ronnie: Mila Jovavich, Jennifer Esposito
Well let's hope the movie and possibly the series do come out, maybe they get some inspiration here ;)
"Kiara_Sullivan said:ok, so i love these books, so i will add my votes, because i am just as excited to see the movie(s) to see how much they have to alter them...But pix has someone is his gallery that could be Jean-Claude"Do you mean the naked guy sweeping his wet hair around? ;) He would do I think.

Anita Blake: Michelle Rodriguez *she does have everything except she isnt as pale as Anita*
Jean Claude: honestly i think it should be a fresh face, and someone french, lol
Richard:Gerard Butler
Nikolaos: Deffinately going with Dakota Fanning
Dolph: i dont think 'the rock' is ok, and im sure he could do it, but i think there is someone out there better for that part
Philip: Kyle Schmid
Jason: James Marsden
Ronnie:Mila deffinately
Edward: Brad Pitt for sure
but there are still a few that we are missing, some pretty big parts too
Cathrine:
Willie McCoy:
Monica:
Buzz:
that is really the only ones i can think of right now, but im not sure who i would put for these guys
Anita: Eliza (big no!), Michelle (Maybe...)
Jean Claude: Stuart Townsend (YES YES YES), Don Henrie (Maybe)
Richard: Jared Padalecki!!
Nikolaos: Definitely Dakota Fanning
Dolph: Dwayne Johnson
Philip: Kyle Schmid
Jason: James Marsden
Ronnie: Mila Jovich
Edward: James Spader (he's got the creepy cold factor) Brad Pitt (possibly the tough factor) hmmm....any other ideas?
I always get this certain Jean-Claude in my mind. I don't know where or if I've seen him before. And right now, the only suggestion that's come close is Tom Welling. So I think it should be someone fresh, but someone similar looking to Tom Welling. He has the eyes and the build and facial structure. I think his hair just needs to grow chin-length and in loose ringlets =]
Hi, new to this whole forum stuff so bare with me, I haven't seen any of the Anita Blake comic's I am in the middle of reading the novel's though love em. But here are my thoughts on who should be who in a movie.
Salma Hayek as Anita Blake or michelle Stuart Townsend as Jean Claude Jared Padalecki or Johnny Depp as Richard Antonio Banderas as Dolph Dakota Fanning as Nikolaos Jensen Ackles as Edward
i think of Jean Claude to be Hugh Dancy
and I think of Sean William Scott as Edward (funny since edward avoids cops, but this picture i think shows the "Death" stare
Okay I signed up just to post this but after reading all the novels I always pictured Sandra Bullock as Anita. Im not sure why....I just kinda did... I think it might be the many movies shes played a cop in but...yeah. What do you think?? Oh and Im so against Eliza. Shes hot and all but no....
Anita is a small, sexy, dark skinned girl who's appearance has to be deceiving. Who better than Mila Kunis from that 70's Show. She played a sort of bad ass girl in Max Payne. She has the looks, I just dunno if she'd have the skill to play a believable Anita. She'd have to be able to get that darker side out. She's even close to the right age for Anita in the early books. She's 25 which is close, Anita was in like her late 20's in Guilty Pleasures wasn't she?
Sorry if anyone else already suggested this, but after reading the first few post she popped into my head right away
"i think of Jean Claude to be Hugh DancySean William Scott huh. That'd be a huge leap for him. He always brings some comedy with him though even in his serious roles. If he could do sociopath and keep it strict and scary, I'd like to see if. It'd really give him a chance to show some range.
and I think of Sean William Scott as Edward (funny since edward avoids cops, but this picture i think shows the "Death" stare"
Just to Clarify. There havent been any announcement of Movies. This is simply who we would like to see in the cast if a movie was made.
That being said, I see some of the choices made but I'm still on for Eliza. She's curvy and thats a major factor for Anita. As for the rest. I will have to look closely and make a judgement xP
Okay. Laurell just got the green light on the movie to begin production. So here are my pics (some of them, I took from you guys)
Anita Blake - Jeneane Garafolo or Juliana Margulies (or, if too old...I do like Michelle Rodriguez)
Jean Claude - Antonio Bandaras
Richard - David Boreanaz or David Duchovney (maybe that's the sci-fi geek in me, though). Josh Holloway (Sawyer from "Lost") would work here or as Edward too.
Nikolaos - Dakota Fanning (although she's set to do the new Twilight, so I doubt it).
Dolph - I had a tough time with...but I love the idea of Dwayne Johnson. Good call.
Zerbrowski - Either Steve Buscemi or Norm MacDonald
Ronnie - Christina Hendricks (Mad Men) or Kate Walsh (Private Practice)
Edward - I like Brad Bitt, Ed Norton, or Simon Baker (The Mentalist). Aaron Eckhart might work too.
Burt - Michael Madsen or Harvey Keitel
FYI...here's the press release issued today. I subscribe to Laurell K. Hamilton's blog, and she already issued a statement, saying that this is NOT a April Fool's joke!!
Current mood: excited

IFC tv GREENLIGHTS ORIGINAL EVENT TELEFILM “LAURELL K. HAMILTON’S ANITA BLAKE: VAMPIRE HUNTER” FROM LIONSGATE
Film Based on the #1 Best-Selling Novels To Air on IFC tv Summer 2010
NEW YORK, NY – March 31, 2009 – IFC tv announced today it has greenlit its first original event telefilm, “Laurell K. Hamilton’s Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter,” based on Hamilton’s series of best-selling paranormal fantasy novels and produced by Lionsgate and After Dark Films. Adapted by Glen Morgan ("X-Files," "Final Destination"), who also serves as executive producer, the movie begins production this summer.
Rights were acquired from Hamilton’s agent, Merrilee Heifetz of Writers House. There are currently 16 books in the series, all published in the US by Penguin Group (USA), with more than 6 million copies in print worldwide. Seven of the novels have made the New York Times Bestseller list and the most recent one, "Blood Noir," debuted at #1 on the list on June 15, 2008. The next highly anticipated Anita Blake novel, SKIN TRADE, hits shelves June 2, 2009.
Mixing mystery, fantasy, and horror, the film will center on the character of Anita Blake, a street-savvy, down-to-earth vampire hunter with a lousy dating life and a penchant for bringing dead people back to life. Blake also works as a police consultant investigating preternatural crimes. Tough, sexy and independent, Blake battles the supernatural as she attempts to solve a variety of paranormal mysteries, come to terms with her own abilities, and navigate a complex string of romantic and political relationships which include a master vampire and an Alpha werewolf.
“I’m thrilled to be bringing my characters and world to television for the first time,” stated Hamilton. “After Dark Films, Lionsgate and IFC all push the boundaries on film. I push the boundaries on paper. I can’t wait to see what we can create together.”
“This unique partnership with Lionsgate, After Dark, Laurell and Glen continues IFC tv's commitment to provide groundbreaking content that you cannot find anywhere else” said Evan Shapiro, president of IFC tv and Sundance Channel. "Anita Blake on IFC will offer a fresh and unique take on the genre; the type of approach that defines our brand."
“‘Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter’ marks the first time in IFC tv’s history that we have created a fictional feature film for the network. IFC is appealing to its core base of men ages 18-34 who are looking for vampire content. The popularity of the network in this demographic indicates that there is a clear demand for films that delve into provocative topics and nothing is more classically provocative than vampire lore” said Jennifer Caserta, EVP and general manager of IFC tv. “Anita Blake fits perfectly with our successful original programming.”
“Laurell has created a fascinating heroine in Anita Blake and we quickly recognized the on-screen potential for this vivid character,” said Kevin Beggs, Lionsgate’s president of television programming and production. “We have an outstanding creative team and are excited to be moving forward with IFC, which will allow us to fully explore the complex world of Laurell’s highly intriguing and erotically charged novels.”
“We are excited to have acquired this successful property, and to have partnered with IFC and Lionsgate. We look forward to bringing “Anita Blake” to the small screen,” stated After Dark Films’ Courtney Solomon. “I am confident that television viewers will be captivated by Laurell K. Hamilton’s spellbinding stories, much as readers have devoured the popular novel series.”
Executive producers are Courtney Solomon ("Dungeons and Dragons," "An American Haunting," "Captivity, "After Dark’s Horrorfest") and Glen Morgan ("X-Files," "Final Destination"). Laurell K. Hamilton, Jonathan D. Green and Stephanie Caleb are co-executive producers. IFC executive producers on this film include Debbie DeMontreux, senior vice president, original programming, Jennifer Caserta, executive vice president and general manager and Evan Shapiro, president of IFC tv and Sundance channel.

Okay they might not all work now but this is who i think should play the parts:
Anita - Demi Moore
Richard - David Boreanaz with long hair
Jean Claude - Cherif Fortin or Antonio Banderas
Larry - Shia Labouf
Raina - Joan Severance
Willie - Kyle Schmid
Zebrowski - Neil Patrick Harris
Edward - Brad Pit
Marcus - Alec Baldwin
Rafael - Nestor Carbonell
Jason - Charlie Hunnam
Burt - Tommy Lee Jones
Dolph - Dwayne Johnson
Ronnie - Mila Jonavich
Nikolaos - Dakota Fanning
Since Dakota Fanning is busy doing the next Twilight movie, how about Anna Sophia Robb ("Bridge to Terabithia")? Might be a good fit.
im not sure if you guys are only doing the first book, but im gunna do as many characters as i can think of.
Anita= Cote de Pablo with more muscle and a harder attitude maybe... its so hard to pic the perfect actors for anita and jean claude.
Jean Claude = Vincent Pérez is the only actor i can think of that i believe could pull off Jean Claude, he has jean claudes elegance, and romantic aura, i just think hed be great!
Richard = im thinking William Shockley
Asher = Travis Fimmell
Nathaniel = Ian Somerhalder
Micah = Jason Behr
Damian = .....no idea.
Jason = Paul Walker
Edward = Duane Chapman!!! It could work! if he cut his hair!
Sgt Storr = Jesse Ventura
Donna Parnell = Jodie Foster
Veronica Sims = Francesca Hunt
Zerbrowski = Jeremy Piven
Gretel = Kyra Sedgwick
Raina - Mila Jovovich
thats all i can think of at the moment
As long as nobody says Megan Fox ... I don't care who plays Anita
But I doubt they'll cast a small girl in the actually movie, So size doesn't really matter in the casting.
Anita= Eliza....HECK NOOOOOOO! she is NOT the right person...she has her place but she just isn't that great...beautiful yes but NOT Antia. I honestly can't give a good suggestion though... I would go for Unknown here, someone who is ALL Anita.
Jean Claude = Idon't know where to begin...so far Hugh Dancy(needs some serious long hair and i know nothing of his acting) and Stuart Townsend(def. pull it off) are my votes for already suggested....or again another unknown (but not that one guy who really thinks he IS a vampire...he is just not fem/mascaline enough...and he just doesn't do it for me.)
Richard = Brad Pitt. So not a fan but I could see him in this role as a romantic and a depressed/angry werewolf plus he is cute enough. (think of how he was in 'seven' with the decline of his character...than think of richard)He just works as a Richard.
Edward = Daniel Craig...he just fits if he wasn't so old. Sean William Scott ...I could see. I would just worry that as Edward they would let him add some "funny" to it and Edward is soooo not the funny type. but looks wise...he has it.
Sgt Storr = Dwayne Johnson...it just fits....period.
Veronica Sims = Mila Jovovich..fits the profile and is a good actress.
Zerbrowski or Larry = Shia Labouf he is the right amount of goofy for either
Nikolaos-Dakota Fanning ..I just can't argue what a great fit that is. as long as she can do evil and wickedly mean.
Rafael-Antonio Bandaras would work well here I think
I have to say Unknowns for all the rest. It would just be WAY to hard to find convincing(sp?) Actors already welll known. Most of the cast would be well to be unknown for that fact.... at least then they can mold the actors into looking and being the Characters instead of trying to remold what we already see in vet. actors.
I think I will be excited no matter who they end up with (with few exceptions).
Yes Nikolaos should be played by Dakota Fanning. She seems to be the most suitable actor for the role.
No offense but Don Henrie looks nowhere near to be Jean Claude.
Richard is easier to pick as in Hollywood, there are a few who are good choices. Maybe Ryan Reynold?
I have not much objections to the rest of the cast as in the first movie, the main characters are these people.
