    The Murderer Revealed

    The Story:

After Anita leaves the freak party, she finds Theresa forcing Zachary to raise a zombie. He's unable to do it by himself so Anita assists him. Another vampire murder happens and this time Theresa is the one killed. Anita and Edward are attacked by a small army of Ghouls under the control of Zachary. After escaping, the two team up to take Nikolaos down and save Jean-Claude.

    My Thoughts:

The finale of the Guilty Pleasures novel written by Laurell K. Hamilton, adapted into comic format by Jess Ruffner-Booth was as unpredictable as ever. Finally the vampire murderer is revealed, a few supporting characters meet their demise and Anita manages to overcome all odds.

A nice mix of action, dialogue and suspense. This being adapted from a novel, you would expect it to be dialogue-heavy, which it is. Personally I enjoy that especially in a story such as this. The action sequences are fun to read. I enjoyed the fight Anita and Edward had in the cemetery against the Ghouls. I'm still waiting to learn more about Edward. I've been hoping for some information on his past to be revealed. I hope he'll be around for a while. I do enjoy his presence in the story particularly when he teams up with Anita.

I wont spoil the identity of the vampire murderer, but I will say I didn't expect it to be this person at all. The way the events played out were unexpected but enjoyable nevertheless. One thing I was disappointed in was the way the villain Valentine died. I was hoping he would be around for a while wreaking havoc but unfortunately it looks like we wont be seeing him anytime soon.

The art is by Brett Booth and Ron Lim. Once again the artwork is beautifully done. I do prefer Brett Booth over Ron Lim, but both their styles are great. June Chung handles the colors very nicely. The overall tone and mood of the artwork is a perfect match for the story. The artists do a great job capturing the action, depicting very real looking fight sequences. The decapitation and blood was accurate. The artists did a great job not overdoing it.

I would recommend this series for fans of vampires and the supernatural genre. The added detective element makes this comic even more entertaining. It's a fun, enjoyable read that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

    Rating: 4.5/5
