    Strange Man?

Let me start by saying anyone who looks at the Animal Man page will tell you, I have serious love for this character. I have read every appearance and I continue to buy two copies of this book to keep it afloat.

Five Stars is not enough. This is literally everything I want from a comic. From the beautiful subversion of Horror, Superheroics and Emotional/Familial drama, to the inventive and down right beautiful construction of the Totems. Even more so, because it ties the Red more firmly to the structure and world that the Swamp Thing brand of books created, with the Parliament of Trees, we now have the Totems, and their connection to the Source.

Whilst the realistic "retro-active continuity" element of his origins was more of the same (This is what, the third time we've been told the Yellow Alien's aren't real) I enjoyed every single element of this book. The frenetic pacing, the beautiful line work from Foreman, who's art I've followed since his first three issue stint on Cla$$war, and the subtle, beautiful red colouration from the colourist.

    Pitch perfect. Again.

The Good: It's not as hauntingly disturbing as the first 2 covers, but this one is still top notch. The wild splatches of red are the finishing touches on the animalistic nature of the cover. Travel Foreman's artwork works better than it did last issue. The normal scenes do a better job at being normal enough, and there's actually a pretty slow scale of transition. If you like things creepy, then check this out. It's impressive just how good Foreman is at making things so horrendously nightmaris...

Review for Animal Man #3.The Story: Buddy and Maxine meet the totems who gave Buddy his powers and get attacked by two of the three Hunters, while Ellen and Cliff get chased by the third one.Thoughts: In the issue we get a bit of a retooling of Buddy's origin. The aliens were fake and were used by the Totems to give Baker his powers. I really like them from the first time we see them. They are big in stature but thanks to Foreman's art they are not natural looking, I honestly cannot properly des...
