The End of the Baker Family?
What We Can Love About It:
This book....is.....so sad but terrific. It created so many emotions for me and I kinda want to stop because I can tell its gonna get sadder. What is with these foldout covers this week? Is it going to be all DC books for the month? Its kinda neat but when i fold it out it look a bit worn because of the creasing. Everything leading up the the funeral was needed I think. Sometimes I feel comics want to cash in on the death of hero or close family member and get a bit invasive we see everyone grieve and then just go back to normal for the most part or family members looking for ways to brink back their lost ones.
Its something that could happen if Jeff Lemire wanted too. Maxine is the avatar of the red and has brought back others, but her mother doesn't want her to use her powers she wants things to be normal and safe and it seems like the only way to do that is to avoid certain people in the family.
Buddy's intrusion on the Avatars of the Red was so rash but artiscally one of my favorite bits of the series. I cant tell where things are going and thats marvoulous
What We Can Hate About It:
Aside from how naggy the grandmother and Ellen are and there dispostion which is probably needed in order for the story there wasn't anything i didnt enjoy in this issue. Ellen get youself together please and stop hating on Buddy he's doing his best.
With Their Powers Combined:
Well if your a big fan and liked where things were before Buddy and Alec met up and fought the rot then get back on this book its only going up! Jeff and Steve do great work together as well as the rest of the team.
