    Animal Man #15

    THE GOOD:
There is an artist and a penciller on this book and that is confusing on who is doing what. Despite this, the art looks similar to what we saw in Issue #1. The action that is drawn in this issue is fantastic and really shows it from an angle where you see just what you need to. The expressions are get in this issue because they give you clues on what the characters are doing or planning to do. The story drops a bit in quality but it's still decent. We get to see Animal Man fight New Gorilla City with the help of Frankenstein. Then we learn that the Rot is holding a prisoner under Metropolis. This all leads up to a ending where you are guessing who is the prisoner and what it could mean to the Green. The mystery that Jeff Lemire adds to the book is fantastic and you really are enjoying finding everything out. The dialog really reflects each character. The dream that Animal Man has halfway through the book was well done and foreshadows the rest of the book.

    THE BAD:
The art lacks details. The backgrounds are often one color and while it's still good, it's obvious that the artist didn't add to much to look at. The Metropolis scene was by far the best case of this. Jeff Lemire is a great writer but he has his favorite characters and he uses them in everything. Frankenstein, Constantine, Black Orchid and Animal Man can be found in a lot of the stuff that he has been doing in the New 52.

    THE VERDICT: 4/5 (Great)
Animal Man has been a heck of a read. This crossover has slowed the story down a little bit to me, but it still is fun to read and you will have a good time doing so. If you are reading Swamp Thing, then you are going to want to read this because Animal Man is realyl discussing things guarding the castle and we all know that Swamp Thing isn't just going to sit this down. If you want a good comic, get this series from Issue #1 and read from there. You won't regret it.

It's still a shame to have lost Travel Foreman, even on cover duties, because Steve Pugh's covers are really just so generic. There's clearly not a lot of thought put into the design, this one especially is just a wild mess without a background and a design too similar to the previous cover. With Swamp Thing heading to Gotham City practically solo, the two series' continue their deep duality with Animal Man heading to Metropolis with an army to recruit a rumored weapon sealed away by Arcane.
