A man named Dr. Fredrick Animus a geneticist decided to research mutation instead of medical research when a university hired him. Animus falsified reports on the efficacy of certain medicines which made patients ill causing him to go to jail(he didn’t deliberately screw up the reports)

Cameron Hodge, commander of the anti-mutant organization known as the Right, then found Amus and he employed him.

Amus was supplies with animals to do his research on but again he didn’t listen to his employer’s instructions.

Amus created creatures, which he referred to as his Ani-Mates, which had the characteristics of human beings and other animals and he called himself the Ani-Mator.

He used these “ani-mates as slaves and he created different ones to do different tasks
