Angela being Thor’s sister is great. I can’t wait for the new stories to come out of this. 40%
I don’t like this idea. The two characters should not have any connection. 28%
It doesn’t really matter to me. I’ll have to read more to see how this plays out. 31%

We briefly discussed this before on the podcast before the issue came out. Now that ORIGINAL SIN #5.1: THOR & LOKI THE TENT REALM #1 is out, you’ve seen how exactly it’s possible that Angela is Thor’s secret and no one knew all these years. If you haven’t read the issue, you can check out our brief summary HERE.

Don't know much about Angela but I felt like having something knew to explore around a new character (in this universe) would be interesting.

it gives us another character for avengers alliance lol

I thought it was going to be bad but from the first issue but I was wrong.

Angela has been a clumsy fit in the Marvel U from day one, a hangover from 90's comics with no obvious place other than as a cheap Wonder Woman knock off. This seems a little desperate, nailing on an unconvincing connection to try and make her matter.

A significant character redesign would help. Even by the standards of comics, she just looks so silly.

I still don't think this is a very smart idea.

#6 Posted by Spideysense44 (3467 posts) - - Show Bio

No problem with this honesty

#7 Posted by lantian1 (161 posts) - - Show Bio

I like the Idea and have enjoyed her in Guardians of the Galaxy especially her interactions with Gamora

The tenth realm was a good setup looking forward to the next issue.

Can anyone explain to me why Angela was brought to Marvel? If Gaiman approached Marvel to hand the character over, that's weird because he's hardly worked for Marvel (compared to Vertigo/DC), and its not like he's hard up for cash and needed to unload the character rights for a quick buck. If Marvel approached Gaiman for the character rights, that's bizarre because Angela is hardly a recognizable name and they've basically retooled her into a new character anyway.

I guess I don't have a problem with Angela being at Marvel and connected to Thor, but I'm just really confused as to why she's even at Marvel in the first place.

This honestly doesn't bother me. Maybe I'll start reading some Thor now, I always liked Angela back in Spawn. She's as tough as they come.

I initially thought this was going to be a horrible and conflicting idea given what little of her backstory she remembered in the pages of Gotg, which seemed to allude to her existence in the spawn universe. And so I thought that would just be completely retconned in a seemingly sloppy editorial manner, but after reading the first issue, I gotta say I really enjoy the connection. And honestly out of the entire marvel universe, the thor part of it makes the most sense in terms of what to draw a connection to. However, I would have preferred to see a whole NEW part of the marvel U be formed for her out of respect to both the character AND the (if any are left) fans of spawn. But so long as she keeps gal paling it up with gamora in GOTG, I honestly don't care all that much.

Definitely going to have to check this out. Any good jumping on points for Thor: God of Thunder?

#12 Posted by powerplay (115 posts) - - Show Bio

I don't get why Angela is being shoe horned into Thor's mythology. Ghost Rider fights actual straight from God angels, why isn't she just one of them?

In fact, Ghost Rider and Spawn have a lot of similarities. She would fit into a Ghost Rider series pretty well

#13 Posted by patrat18 (9772 posts) - - Show Bio

Wonder woman stomps lol.

#14 Posted by War Killer (20211 posts) - - Show Bio

I actually like this idea. The idea of adding a Tenth Realm to the mythology and Thor having a sister is one I find pretty cool.

#15 Posted by AmazingWebHead (2515 posts) - - Show Bio

Wait, does this make Spawn a Marvel hero now?

"Tenth realm"? Remember a few months ago when I said they could call this "Retcons: the series" and everyone asked me if I meant it in a bad way, and I said "no"? Well, now I do mean it in a bad way.

*finger snap* I just realized who's costume she's ripping off! Red Sonja!

Personally I'm not a fan of this idea mostly because it seem unnecessary.

#17 Posted by KouNurasaka (57 posts) - - Show Bio

I'm interested to see how this plays out. I know nothing almost nothing about Spawn or Angela, but I don't object to this as long as it doesn't become sappy or melodramatic.

Also, what is she holding in her right hand? A spear, a staff, a bow? I just can't tell...

I never knew the character from the Spawn days but I think its an interesting connection to explore. Maybe its a bit forced that she is related to Thor, but given that I enjoyed the recent arc involving Teresa Parker as Spider-man's unknown Sister I think this will be a good read. They can even end the story in a similar fashion and it might be ok.

#19 Posted by Trodorne (2590 posts) - - Show Bio

It kind of reads like He-man and She-ra.

#20 Edited by The Stegman (24435 posts) - - Show Bio

Maybe DC will make He-Man, Superman's long lost brother.

#21 Posted by Mapuia_Ralte (81 posts) - - Show Bio

Where's the 'UGH' option?

#22 Posted by OmgOmgWtfWtf (7031 posts) - - Show Bio

Thor needs another brother, who is fat and bald. The black sheep of the family. Go now Marvel! Make my dreams come true!

#23 Posted by GrenadeFlow (1531 posts) - - Show Bio

When she entered the Marvel Universe I was really excited. I thought they could have done great things with her but now it seems they just put her into the Asgardian corner of the MU.

#24 Posted by G_leno (1013 posts) - - Show Bio

I would have voted in the poll, but there was no option for 'I will like this if they make Angela's costume more skimpy'.

I like the idea for her being Thor's sister.

#25 Posted by leokearon (1804 posts) - - Show Bio

A terrible character to start off with, brining her into the Marvel Universe served no purpose except to bring in some Neil Gaiman fans, this new revelation just screams desperation

#26 Posted by TDK_1997 (14896 posts) - - Show Bio

I have no problem with Thor having a sister and there to be a Tenth Realm but I don't like the idea of Angela being THor's sister.

#27 Edited by BrotherEye (150 posts) - - Show Bio

I got no problem with this.., it's actually much better than I thought it would be. This seems like a perfect fit. Though I do hope age gets a bit linked to the Ghost Rider side as well due to the whole angels and demons thing there.

#28 Posted by Krypton-115 (386 posts) - - Show Bio

I'm going to have to read more to really have an opinion on this.

#29 Edited by KNIGHT SAVIOR (824 posts) - - Show Bio

I love the idea that Thor now have a sister, in my opinion, Marvel need to shake things up now and again. Of course, you might have some fans who like things stay the same but some Comic Books companies, like Marvel and DC, need to change the format sometimes to keep thing fresh for the fans to keep them guessing and interested in the character(s).

#30 Posted by i_dont_like_comics (770 posts) - - Show Bio

@amazingwebhead: and red sonja is ripping off every stripper ever to have lived. on subject though, i dont see why she needs to be tied to thor's mythos. well i see why they did it: IT's EASYand they're lazy. she wouldve been a much better fit with ghost rider, but you know ghosty isnt a high profile character like thor and they want the cheddar they paid for her NOW NOW.

#31 Posted by flashback0180 (665 posts) - - Show Bio

good for the eyes bad for the plot

#32 Posted by SpitfirePanda (878 posts) - - Show Bio

Don't know much about the character, but the idea is certainly cool. There could be some good stories to come out of this relationship in the future. I approve (though I haven't read Original Sin past the first issue).

#33 Posted by greenlucario (228 posts) - - Show Bio

Right now it seems alright, not sure exactly how I feel though, since I think it's just too early to tell. I mean they haven't even had an encounter yet. This story could be great for both Thor and Loki, or it could be absolutely terrible, despite how good their books are. I'll say it's a good idea for now, and see if the next four issues keep it that way.

#34 Edited by Son_of_simba (698 posts) - - Show Bio

id rather her be thors love interest rather than sister

#35 Posted by ArturoCalaKayVee (11621 posts) - - Show Bio

I love the idea. It makes sense to me.

#36 Edited by Crom-Cruach (8867 posts) - - Show Bio

The idea of intergrating Angela in the Marvel universe is both ridiculous and a waste of everyone's time.

#38 Edited by Experio (16062 posts) - - Show Bio

Like the idea

#39 Posted by Dernman (15105 posts) - - Show Bio

This is how I see it.

There was no need to make the connection to Asgard. She could have remained purely a Demon hunter fitting in the world of Ghost Rider.

OK they didn't do that so lets deal with what they did do. I could live with them making her Asgardian but I'm not liking the idea of making her Thor's sister. It messes up the dynamic that is already there. She could have had another connection which adds to the mythos without mucking things up that are already there.

Now this tenth realm. Not only do I not like the idea of a tenth realm but what makes it worse is what they are saying it is.

It paints her as an assistant character of Thor rather than making her an independent character. She deserved to have at least one shot in a solo series.

#41 Posted by sagejonathan (1956 posts) - - Show Bio

Where's the 'UGH' option?

Basically this. I think the story will be interesting, but it was just so unnecessary and kinda forced imo. Im not that into it.

#42 Posted by bloggerboy (575 posts) - - Show Bio

I liked Angela in Spawn and when I heard she was going to the Marvel universe my first thought was negative. Now that I've had time to think about it and seeing what her role will be, well, I think they made the best choice possible.

Ha! Good one! That joke takes on so many more dimensions when you consider Stripperella.

Well, Ghost Rider is getting a netflix series. Maybe then he'll get some appreciation.

#44 Posted by i_dont_like_comics (770 posts) - - Show Bio

@amazingwebhead: i've lost faith in netflix after the from dusk till dawn series. horrible prolonging of the awesome movie into a series. they literally took the exact script of the movie and added stuff on top to make it longer. it's incredible how many times stuff happens or fits into place because it happened like that in the movie. you want PIS this is the mother ship. batman is small potatoes.

#45 Posted by AmazingWebHead (2515 posts) - - Show Bio

@i_dont_like_comics: Like the Hobbit? Well, it's pretty much my only option since my cheap-ass parents got rid of the cable.

#46 Posted by Teerack (6372 posts) - - Show Bio

This is a mistake brought about my marvel's insecurity in the character to stand up on her own.

#47 Edited by name_already_chosen (176 posts) - - Show Bio

Does she have to be drawn like she's a porn star instead of a Norse goddess?

#48 Posted by cobracaptain (17 posts) - - Show Bio

As a Spawn fan I did not like the idea.

^THIS.

I'm liking the concept of there being a 10th realm but the sister thing is gonna have to grow on me.
