He's a good fighter and his speed and flight ability is an tactic advantage in certain battles.

#6 Posted by John Valentine (16307 posts) - - Show Bio

He's good looking and he's insanely rich.
He's also a founding member which helps secure his foundation on the team.................

they can use his blood to heal people

#8 Posted by Zoom (14668 posts) - - Show Bio

They don't.

Moreso, he doesn't need them either.

he's kinda useless (unless he's Archangel)
but he does cover most of the financial stuff and was one of the first five...

Every Character doesn't have to be on Jean Grey's Level in terms of power, but he's not useless ]=

He also lends his home to X-Force for their HQ.

I used to think, as a wee child, that he was kinda useless as an offensive member of the team. They've tried to address this to varying success (Archangel, with the metal wings and shootable feathers, and giving him healing blood; in Chuck Austin's (forgettable) run, his gauntlets could be used offensively). I think he's better when he takes more of a backseat, such as funding, using his public image to promote mutant standing, maybe serving on the team as a scout, doing fundraisers for homeless mutant children, etc. Since he can currently switch between his Angel and Archangel forms, it'd be neat if he maintained a public image as Warren Worthington, while serving as Archangel, kinda like him having a secret identity again. For someone who went public so long ago (back during his tenure with X-Factor, if memory serves, which it doesn't), there are story possibilities in him rediscovering the freedom of his activities not being known to everyone.

lol.

Angel could so have his own series, even.  I'd buy it.  He does become a bit useless when surrounded by people as powerful as Iceman or Colossus but on his own, he could have some fun adventures.

His book would be kinda like X-men Lite. IMO

Yeah! Angel was transformed by Apocalypse into Death A.K.A Archangel.
He has his uses.

#25 Posted by Silverheart (66 posts) - - Show Bio

Because Angel is very attractive, the best flyer on the team, has money, he's the team healer with his blood, and a good melee combatant.

And he just looks really cool in both guises!

And WHEN will they make him a player character in a video game?  Come on!  He has been with the team so long, he deserves it!

Oh well, he was a boss in X-Men 2, the apocolapse game.  That's SOMETHING.

The x-men don't really need angel as part of their team, he is like human torch in the FF and ant-man in the avengers, there is no need for them and no disadvantage from not having them, but with the the team works better.

like, without angel they have people who can fly (cannonball) and healers (elixir) and money isn't that important when the smart guys can make x-jets out of tin cans.

but with him the x-men have a pretty public face, an areial threat and a hero who isn't afraid to play dirty (just look at the last few x-force issues ).

to sum up there good without him, but a bit better with him.

Not even close.Angel is nothing like Human Torch.Human Torch is actually useful and the same goes for Ant-Man if you are talking about Scott Lang or Hank Pym.Both have contributed more to any team than Angel ever has.Angel is a spot filler.Nothing More.

Yo dude your retarded if you think the Torch and Antman are useless.  Torch has fire power and flight, and those to combined are a power house.  And Antman keeps his strenght when he is in a smaller form.  Soo go read some more books.  Please?

The reason why they keep him is so that they have someone to keep the bug zappers occupied.

Nothing, nothing at all. He's an oversized second generation rich kid/bird. He brings nothing to the team. His most famous contribution came in the form of getting his wings torn off by the Marauders.

I never said the human torch or ant man (scott lang) were useless (there actually some of my favorite heroes) I just said that they aren't always required in there teams.

Like the FF has a smart guy, a strong guy and the powerful hottie.  The avengers have cap, iron man, thor and the smarter ant man (pym) so that every now and again they aren't the first port of call about super issues.

Ironically the same way I feel about angel.

another thing about angel is that he is related to senator kelly therefore he can inlist the help of humans or get information about plans and stuff.

#42 Posted by White Mage (18740 posts) - - Show Bio

Angel is completely pointless on the team.  The only way he is uesful is through his connections, and with that said, he should take a less active role on field missions.

He's not. Kelly was pro-Mutant registration anyways.......

Thanks, that's what I thought... Not as if being related to someone ever made an X-Man bad (like with half-brothers Nightcrawler & Graydon Creed)

Because he's an inspiration.  Seriously, he's good for mutant PR.  Someone like Beast or Wolverine isn't going to fill that role for obvious reasons; Emma's too arrogant and judgmental, Scott is too involved in other things...most of the X-Men have their reasons, but Angel doesn't.  He's one of the original five, with all the symbolism that entails, he's cultured, wealthy, well-spoken, extremely good looking, and, well, a freakin' angel.  Most mutants inspire fear and loathing; this guy inspires awe, reverence, even worship.  Plus, he heals too.  If you need any proof of Angel's usefulness, just remember the scene where he first discovers his healing powers and goes to a hospital to heal sick children.  People were looking at him with their mouths hanging open and crying with joy at the things he was doing.  There's no better PR for the mutant cause than that, none.

Now, let's assess the usefulness of someone like, say, Gambit, who is chronically unreliable, looks out for number one at the exclusion of everything else, has outright betrayed the team on more than one occasion, isn't especially powerful and just causes conflict and confusion wherever he goes.  What exactly does that lowlife have going for him, aside from the fact that he's a fan favorite?

Fromthe look of it, Closure couldn't understand what you were saying.  It was in a public forum.  No need to take it so personally.

Peronsally,

I think his like sole use is that he was the Original Team's flyer and someone who could provide some sort of transport for Beast ... Like if Beast could get dropped on someone etc.
