Now, maybe I just felt the full effect of this comic's power because I wasn't prepared for it at all, or maybe it was just that amazing, but I have to say that this may very well be, one of, if not the greatest first issue I have ever read in a comic. Now, as my rating of the comic points out, this isn't necessarily (in fact it isn't) the greatest comic I've ever read, simply an amazing first issue, the likes of which there are few in the running.
To begin my review of the issue, I'd like to quell any misinterpretations of what exactly this comic is. Now these are mostly based off of my own incorrect interpretations, but you know, its not hard to believe that this is simply a comic about a man whose on the run from multitudes of women offering to take his virginity...well, though I won't say such ideas do not occur in the comic, that is not its plot in the least. The underlying story-line is one that could be in any story, its simply surrounded and filled with sexual ideas and concepts...no, not what ideas you'd think, you just have to read it to find out...though I will warn that the book is definitely not for children.
Anywho, back on the topic of just why this comic is such an amazing first issue, I don't know if I have that answer...the comic just pulled me in and wouldn't let go, probably the fastest I've ever read a series...its just that type of action, of story, you can't get enough. There isn't ever much of a slow-pace with this comic, or the series, its like, one taste and your sucked in...the first issue is the "make or break" issue in my eyes so I don't really want to spoil too much of it, but if you start reading it and wonder why I think so highly of it and the series...wait until you get to the last page of the issue...
Now, yes, I understand, not all people share my tastes, I get that, but for anyone with a true love of the "out of the norm" comics, basically if you've tried and loved a lot of Vertigo's maxi-series, or aren't in your comics for superheroes but for mind-blowing ideas and storyline...this one is a must read.
