American Vampire Blitzkrieg!
Scott Snyder has continued to amaze me time and time again with keeping a story about vampires fresh and extremely exciting. That said it should come as no surprise that Snyder and artists(Albuquerque, Sean Murphy, and Mateus Santolouco) have really created a gem within the comics industry. Perhaps what i appreciate most within this issue is the focus upon Felicia Book, a character who has until now taken a supporting role within the main story. I feel what draws me most to sympathize with this half vampire/human is that the fact that she is struggling with her place in the greater world. on the one hand she acts as the perfect weapon for the Vassals of the morning Star, however at the same time it is defiantly gratifying that Snyder gives us this issue to catch up with this immensely round character. Felicia has come a long way from last time we saw her, In many ways she emits an aura of confidence within her abilities much like current Batwoman or Rogue in their respective universes. noted that Scott Snyder has created that universe, it also falls upon the artist, Sean Murphy to translate it onto the visual spectrum. Murphy does a masterful job of capturing the characters essence, such as seen in the hardcore attitude of Felicia Book's posture and movements. To sum up this issue We find out that Felicia has been struggling with her Vampire side, likewise Cash McCogan has been dealing with the immense hardship of raising a son tainted of Skinner Sweet. It all comes to a boiling point when the possibility of a cure for Vampirism could actually exist. I feel what made this story imensly captivating was the immediate problems both Felicia and Cash were facing. It is very human to want to fit in likewise the desire to save one's own son from damnation. No doubt Scott Snyder has an immensely personal self revelation for both Cash and Felicia in the coming issues. In many ways i feel this issue outshines the other story, primarily because i feel that it is easier to identify with the main protagonists. That said i still recommend you to go out and catch up on American Vampire if you have been out of the loop for a while, because you certainly wouldn't want to miss what is to come. Overall story-wise, I want to say the character development seems to take over within this story, likewise that art itself is A grade and helps convey Snyder's story in an effective manner. It is very interesting to see what is in store for both Cash and Felicia, I feel they defiantly will not be the same after learning of a possible cure to their ailments. In other words THIS ISSUE IS A MUST PICK UP!
