    Origin

Alucard is the son of Dracula and Lisa, a human woman, making him a vampire/human half breed. An extremely powerful vampire, his powers are shown to be near equal with his father.

    Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse

In 1476 when Trevor C. Belmont was on his own quest to hunt out the Count Dracula, who had controlled his son to become evil, Alucard would be waiting for Trevor Belmont to come by. Alucard acted like a boss (not a real boss) at this point, testing the skills of the hero. Alucard was surprised by Trevor's strength when he was defeated and asked if he could join Trevor on his quest.

After helping to destroy Dracula, and despite his good intentions, Alucard couldn't help but feel guilty for patricide. To ease his pain, he put himself to rest, submerging his powers.

In 1796, due to an unexpected lack of a Jack Henry Dappen, Alucard had no choice but to awaken from his slumber to investigate the matter and infiltrate Castlevania. He was able to find out that. Jack Henry Dappen. had been seduced by evil and was controlling the castle. With the help of Jack's sister-in-law, Maria Renard, they were able to find out the truth: the dark priest Shaft was controlling Jack. and wanted to raise Dracula from his dark slumber. After releasing Jack, from Shaft's control, Alucard entered an upside-down version of Castlevania, with more powerful enemies, and confronted Shaft. Having defeated Shaft, Alucard discovered that his efforts were in vain, as Shaft's plan had come to fruition regardless.

He solely defeated his father in combat once more, and sent him back to the grave, though Dracula did show a spark of humanity after Alucard told him Lisa's last words: that mankind should be left in peace, and that she would always love him. He then planned to put himself back at rest but Maria, who had developed a strong attraction to him, eventually set out to convince him to stay.

    Nocturne of Recollection

One year after defeating his father, Alucard is accused of being evil by an incubus named Magnus. He aids Maria, Jack Dappen. Cyril, and Alexis in their fight against Magnus and his old servant Lyudmil. Magnus reveals to Maria Alucard's history of consuming human blood. When being asked about it, he did not deny it. He even turned his former servant, Lyudmil into a vampire.

After witnessing Maria's brush with death, Alucard finally displayed some emotion toward her. He apologized and Maria ungrudging accepted it. However, despite the defeat of Magnus, Alucard still had a deeply regretful farewell to Lyudmil, whom he was unable to save.

    Aria of Sorrow

In the age of no Belmonts, Alucard witnesses Dracula rising and falling many times. He begins to seek a way in which he could permanently destroy his father. When the Vampire Killer whip is passed down to the Morris Clan, he creates the Alucard Spear with the intention of it supporting the Vampire Killer whip, and he bequeaths it to the Lecarde Clan.

One day, many years later, he enters the time rift. In it he faces the minions of Dracula, Camilla and Death. He then defeats his father, proving that he had the power to defeat him even when he was at his full power.

When he returns to his normal place in time, he continues his quest to ultimately defeat Dracula. He later hears about Nostradamus's prophecy that stated that Dracula would rise in the year 1999. Alucard makes preparations for the ultimate defeat of Dracula. He enlists the services of the priest of the Hakuba Shrine and they perform a ritual that seals Dracula's Castle inside of a solar eclipse, which separates him from the source of his power, thus breaking his cycle of resurrection. Julius Belmont, the Belmont who returned, defeats Dracula one final time and he is finished.

Alucard believed that his task was finally completed. However, some time after that, he learns of another prophecy which tells of the return of a reborn Dracula to the castle in the year 2035. He then goes to work to prepare to counter this new threat and infiltrates a secret Japanese government agency and started to use the alias of Genya Arikado.

    Personality

Alucard endures great suffering because of his blood curse, a curse to roam the world forever fighting and having to endure the death of his friends and colleagues. Alucard is pessimistic, always has a plan for everything, leaves nothing to chance, and will do everything necessary to end Dracula regardless of the cost.

Alucard always seems to stay away from the people around him, given his vampire condition. He decided to completely exile himself from the world under an eternal sleep. He did not awake from it until Symphony of the Night. It also seems that he forges camaraderie quickly in precarious situations, as seen in helping Sonia Belmont, and also the assistance provided as a minor character in Dracula's Curse.

In Symphony of the Night, Alucard feels completely responsible for dealing with Dracula, whatever the consequences. Speaking to Maria, he is indifferent about Dappen. being under evil control. Alucard bids a cold goodbye to Jack. and Maria at the end of Symphony. Though forges little human attachment, it is notable in Symphony that when the Succubus posed as his mother Lisa, Alucard's emotions flared. Alucard also does not withhold his feelings to fight once more against his father, who at the end of the battle quotes some sentences spoken by his mother.

    Powers & Abilities

     Alucard's sword and shield

Swordsman skills: Mastered a variety of weapons, but none as he mastered his mother's sword. Seeing as the sword is a family heirloom, Lisa could have come from a lineage of swordmasters or knights. He also inherited the Alucard Shield that improves defense against all attacks, the Alucard Armor that improves Fire, Ice and Thunder elemental defense, and the Dragon Helmet that scares enemies and lowers their defenses. The Twilight Cloak, from his father, Alucard increases defense and reduces flinching.

Super Speed: Comparable to Dracula and managed to defeat him.

Enhanced Strength: Due to a vampire physiology.

Shape-Shifting: Can shapeshift into a wolf, bat, and mist to get to certain areas. With the aid of some relics, Alucard can enhance his shapeshifting, his Wolf form can ran faster than a bullet, his Form of Mist can become a Poison Cloud, and his Bat form can fire fireballs and a destructive sonar. It is speculated that Alucard, like Dracula, has a 'final form' that he can transform into, but he refuses to use it as he does not want to be like Dracula in any way; this is supported by the fact that at random, Alucard will turn into a massive gargoyle statue when petrified, which is impervious to damage; this may be his "final form."

Magical Powers: As the Vampire Prince, Alucard holds incredible, nearly unrivaled magical power. He naturally has a master of Dark Magic, though he controls Holy Magic as well.

Summon Spirit: A simple offensive spell. Alucard summons a magical spirit which'll fly towards its target, exploding on contact.

Tetra Spirit: A more powerful version of the previous spell. As its name implies, Alucard summons four spirits to attack his opponent.

Hellfire: A classic vampiric attack. With a wave of his cape, Alucard releases a trio of hellish fireballs to scorch his opponent.

Dark Inferno: A more powerful variation of the Hellfire attack. Waving his cape, Alucard fires a pair of dark, meteoric orbs of darkness that bring great destruction.

Dark Metamorphosis: With this spell, Alucard greatly enhances his vampire Blood-Draining abilities.

Soul Steal: An incredibly powerful spell that allows Alucard to rip and absorb the souls of nearby enemies, devouring their essence and vitality and converting it into power

Wing Smash: An offensive move in which Alucard briefly sprouts vampiric wings and dashes towards his opponent, swiping his sword at full speed.

Dark Lightning: Alucard focuses his magical power, with dark runes manifesting before his hands, and releases a potent discharge of magical lightning.

Infernal Blade: An incredibly destructive offensive move. When executing it, Alucard will sink his blade into the ground, and let it be consumed by burning hellfire. Then, sprouting vampiric wings, he will dash towards his opponent with incredible speed, slicing them with his blade and subsequently provoking a gigantic explosion.

    Lords of Shadow Continuity

Alucard in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate

Alucard appears in the rebooted Castlevania timeline "Lords of Shadow", first appearing in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate. He is voiced by Richard Madden. In this new continuity, he is depicted as a mysterious and terrifying vampire knight who still is Dracula's son, but his character and Trevor Belmont's are combined into one. Trevor Belmont is the son of Gabriel and Marie Belmont. He was conceived in 1046, just before one of Gabriel’s many long sojourns on behalf of the Brotherhood of Light and its fight against evil. Pan and the elders of the Brotherhood believed Gabriel to be the chosen one who would one day ultimately defeat the Lords of Shadow and redeem mankind, but they also foresaw dark omens ahead.

The world would be saved, although a heavy price would be exacted on all. Pan saw terrible visions, portents leading to a dreadful fate for Marie and her newly born child. He therefore persuaded Marie to keep her child a secret from his father until Gabriel’s quest was done, and in this single act he saved the child from certain death.

Oblivious to his fate, Trevor was raised by the Brotherhood to be a warrior like his father before him, and the secret of his birth and his lineage was kept from him until manhood. He proved to be a skilled warrior, and had inherited his father’s deep mastery of combat. During this time he met and married Sypha and in 1067 they have a child named Simon. When Dracula returned in 1072, the elders saw in Trevor the final hope for redemption, a way to strike a blow against the dark forces now inhabiting the old Bernhard Castle, an evil of their own making. Therefore, Trevor was informed of his true lineage, the fate of his mother, and the true identity of her murderer; and so he sets off to the castle to seek revenge.

However he failed in defeating the Dark Lord in combat. As he lay dying, the connection between him and Dracula was revealed to him and in desperation, he turned his son into a vampire to save his life thought seemingly in vain. His body was placed into a coffin with the words "Alucard" carved over the lid, as to represent what Trevor said earlier about them being opposites.

Alucard eventually awoke thirty years later and after painfully realizing he had been turned into a creature of the night himself, he resolved to confront his father once again. This time, to help his son Simon now a skilled warrior of his own, and free the Belmont family from their cursed fate.

    Powers & Abilities

As Alucard, he possesses the typical powers of a vampire but, other than gold eyes and white hair, he seems to retain a vaguely humanoid appearance despite being recently turned, as usually only elder vampires are able to regain their human forms. However it is mentioned that upon becoming a vampire, Gabriel set about creating a more pure breed of vampiric creatures that combined the beauty and human forms of elder vampires with the bestial instincts and savagery of Carmilla's breed.

As such, Alucard retains a much more human form despite being a relatively 'young' vampire. As Alucard, Trevor is shown to have retained his prowess in combat.

Vampirism: Alucard's vampirism gives him additional abilities. One example is that he no longer needs to breathe, allowing him to remain underwater indefinitely, though he does not possess all the powers available to more powerful vampires.

Blood Draining: Like all vampires, Alucard drains his victims of their blood to restore any lost vitality. Additionally, if he feeds off powerful monsters, he gains new abilities.

Immortality: Because he was turned into a vampire via his father's infected blood, Alucard gained Dracula's immortality as well, never aging past his appearance post his resurrection. He cannot truly die unless impaled by the Vampire Killer.

Telepathy: After revealing his identity as the disguised Lieutenant to his father, he displays the ability to telepathically communicate the third acolyte's whereabouts despite being too far outside the range of hearing.

Superhuman Strength: Alucard possesses superior strength compared to humans, allowing him to lift monsters and fully armored men his own size with ease.

Superhuman Speed: Alucard is faster than humans, able to move in rapid bursts of speed.

Bat Form: Alucard can transform into a bat and fly. He can also summon bats and send them at his foes, stunning them.

Mist Form: Alucard can vaporize his body into a living mist. This form allows him to phase through enemies, regaining some health in the process.

Wolf Form: Alucard can transform into a bipedal white werewolf. This form is slightly stronger than normal, allowing Alucard to open special doors. This form is unlike his later White Wolf animal form, which is used to guide his father through his journey but might also be an illusion.

Enhanced Climbing: Alucard can navigate sheer surfaces with the Shadow Claws.

Demonic Wings: Alucard can double jump through the use of Demonic wings. Note that he loses this ability in Lords of Shadow 2. It is also possible that he simply abandoned its use for the more efficient Bat Cloud ability.
