Marvel Announces the Return of Alpha Flight
Since the team was resurrected during Chaos War, we will see that some time has passed. We were assured that you don't have to have read anything prior to this in order to jump on board.
As a result of Fear Itself, there is a change in government. Alpha Flight finds themselves the country's "greatest traitors" and have to go on the run to figure out what is behind the government takeover.

It was confirmed that Guardian, Vindicator, Sasquatch, Shaman, Snowbird, Aurora, Northstar and Marrina will be on the team with a good chance for Puck as well. This is the original team from Uncanny X-Men #120.
The series is slotted for eight issues, all by Van Lente, Pak and Eaglesham with a .1 issue illustrated by Ben Oliver in May. Van Lente said "If there's demand, I would imagine there will be a ninth issue and beyond."
Well, Puck's gotta pull his short ass outta hell first. But I guess based on his position at the end of Wolverine #5, that's a distinct possibility.
I might read it if their first mission is to track down and beat the living crap out of Michael Pointer.
YES!!!!! I"M STILL FLOORED BY THIS NEWS!! the comic gods have heard my prayers!
As some of you know im a huge Alpha Flight fan so i couldn't be more happy about this news!! Finally some stories that take place in my neck of the woods instead of new york over and over again.
Never read of any outcry from a rash number of fans demanding the return of Alpha Flight. Yet, here it is another $4 book that is going to contribute to January's report of sales sliding and the failure to increase readership. See Jason Aaron's (Scalped) column at CBR.
Maybe the worst part is, Pak & Van Lente don't need another title unless are they like Bendis planning to budget their own movie studio? How about giving a new comer a shot? Or a budding star?
This is why I love DC's angle of using Vertigo as a place where fresh writers cut their teeth before tackling the mainstream stuff. For Marvel it's the opposite. If you can sell mainstream, then we'll allow you to do your own thing in Icon. Rubbish.
Eh? I don't think anyone on this creative team is Canadian, and that has me doubting. Alpha Flight was a fun series when it started with John Byrne, who crew up in Canada and actually had a feel for it. My issue with America writers and artists doing Alpha Flight is they figure they can reference a few episodes of SCTV or something, and then just write the heroes like they're hanging out in a slightly different version of New York. There are some great Canadian artists and writers out there, get them.
this mediocre event with an ending just as lame. We get Alpha Flight back...but not Captain Marvel? Yellowjacket? Banshee? Moira?
If an event it started that is only intended to revive dead characters, at least revive the good ones. -.-
Of course, this means either Northstar is pulling double duty, or leaving the X-Men.
