    All-New X-men #2 - Review

    The Good:

From the very start, Bendis nails it with a plot that will keep you interested and excited at all time. At first, the idea of having the original 5 X-men coming to the present may have sounded crazy and maybe even bad, but it turns out it isn't.

There was a lovely piece of dialogue between the characters, most of all Beast and the original 5. It was very enjoyable to see their reactions once they heard about their futures. Sadly, Warren did not get to know his. I was curious to know how he'd react to the fact that he once almost caused the Apocalypse.

Best of all were the facial expressions. Immonen displayed them with perfection. In fact, I really love his art. It is clean and I couldn't find a single panel where his pencilling was inconsistent.

    The Bad:

This issue lacked action, but, honestly, it was so good without any fighting that I didn't even miss it. That aside, I must clarify that things are going nice and slow. That isn't a bad thing at all, but Magneto, Emma, Magik and the present Scott didn't even make an appearance, and I actually wanted to see them.

    The Verdict:

This is turning out to be a great series, with very promising issues. If you haven't checked it out yet, I suggest you do. You will not be disappointed. Immonen's art is amazing and the plot is exceptionally awesome. This issue gets a 9/10.

It was really good to see Jean Grey (alive) again.

@FatFriar_16: Although I don't really like Jean, I loved how Bendis portrayed her in this comic. I really liked what she did to Wolverine.

@tomlikesfries: I was never really a big Jean Grey fan myself. She was too perfect and has the all-too cheesy-perfect relationship with Scott. But, her dynamic really fits in now. She's sweet and innocent, heart-warming and heart-wrenching, now that she is back from the dead. She's like a breathe of fresh air in a musty room.

To me, the same can be said for Scott. He had always been too perfect in too perfect of times. But, now he's a little fallen and a little more real. We can see the torture and suffering that he has been through begin to really change his character. While, at the same time we know in some way he is trying to justify himself. And, like always, do what he thinks is best for everyone in the long-run. He still has his old self inside him somewhere, but it's really great to see the contrast between his literal old self and who he is now.

Iceman is great. "Hey! Are you crazy?! Are you just a big ball of crazy?"

Hank is great. "I would never endanger the space-time continuum like this. | Never. | That's the part of this that confuses me."

The whole cast, the original team, is really refreshing. They brought a glimmer of the hope that filled up the good old days to the dark and dreary present. I just hope that everything works out and they won't be too scarred from the trip (either way old Prof. X will probably mind-wipe them when they return).

I'm probably MEGA wrong, but maybe they won't even return. I mean, Bendis really likes to kill off characters, so he may actually do it to the present Hank, considering how sick he is. Therefore, they won't be able to return.

But that's just a wild guess. I mean, Beast in an important character, and I would really prefer if they did return to the past. It certainly will be nice to see a bit of the silver age in the modern writing.

@tomlikesfries: Yeah, as I was reading I was hoping that Hank and Jean would stay in the present (I'm not up-to-date with Angel, so possibly him too if he has kind of disappeared). That wouldn't change too much now that they're already there (the past would have had to already become a whole different dimension for them to have time-traveled at all since the Marvel U does function with alternate dimensions instead of just one time-stream). And, it would be great if they could kind of have rebirths, Hank mutating again and Jean adding a new element and perhaps able to stop the Dark Phoenix this time around.

But, I think the others (Scott, Iceman, and Angel if he hasn't disappeared/died) will need to go back. But, they did keep Nightcrawler and alternate Nightcrawler in the normal dimension. So, maybe they won't have to go back. And, this also adds a really easy way to bring Prof. X "back from the dead" if anyone ever feels like doing so (just grab him from the past).

Still, Nick Lowe said this was the "most drastically insane X-Men story that I've ever worked on." So, if the story does get too crazy they may have to put everything and everyone pretty much back where it was. But, after AvX obviously they are ok with making some pretty crucial changes to the X-Men story-line.

Oh! And, alternate Hank should be able to figure out the time machine even if his older version dies....

I just read up on Angel and it would be SWEET if the old one met the present one. He could explain who he is to himself. It would be really emotional and either play a huge part in character development or none at all (if Archangel doesn't believe him).

I've always liked Immonen's art since Fear itself 0.0.... it's so clean. Yeah i agree with the lack of action part, but it seems like issue 3 will take care of that. The previews are making me jizz

When I first heard of this series I wasn't too sure what to expect, but the first issue was very good. It's nice to see a X-Men series which involves both X-Men teams, and the addition of the younger versions of the X-Men make the series even more interesting.PlotThis issue sees Beast from the present continue to persuade the X-Men of the past to come and try and fix the present. They eventually agree and Beast brings them to the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning where the past meets the pres...

Overview: Bendis continues his initiation as a X men writer in the second installment of All New X menThe Good: This story is great from front to back in my opinion. The Art work is simply amazing, Immonen has to be one of the best artist in the industry today and it shows in every panel during this book, it is simply gorgeous in every way. The way Bendis writes the original 5 is very good in my opinion, they are shocked and confused but they are the X MEN DAMN IT, and will not sit back while ot...
