    Invaders Invading

Ah, the Invaders. This is right up my alley. Captain America, no question, Bucky, oh yeah. Jim Hammonds Human Torch, yes! Namor? Yup. It's like icing on top of cake on top icing on top of cake. I love these characters and so far the series featuring the "old gang" has been pretty good.

Issue 4 picks up with our heroes taken captive by the ruthless Kree. The Invaders had gone to the Kree homeworld after the High Pursuer, a female equivalent to Ronan the Accuser, attacked Earth in an attempt to weaponize the very gods themselves. Luckily our heroes found one another and so began this adventure. Now that you're caught up, let's talk issue 4. There is some good story here with a great little twist near the end. Is it an amazing story? No, but it's pretty good and worth the time of any Invaders fans out there. A big plus for me is the interactions between team members, Robinson seems to have the personalities down pretty good and that, I think, is what really sells the series. Seeing the golden age heroes together fighting the forces of the Kree, well, read it and see.

Now, for the art in the issue I have to say I'm really on the fence. Sometimes I think it looks great but sometimes I think it's not so good. I'm not sure what it is with the art, Pugh is popular but with me I have yet to be impressed. I will say that some of the more "busy" shots, are really well done and he has a knack for filling the panel with interesting visuals. His people though, I'm not so big on.

So what does all this say for issue 4? Well, the story is continuing to build though there isn't a ton of advancing right now but it is setting things up for an all out brawl which should be a fun read. Visually it is okay, not the best but not the worst. The team of characters, for the old man in me, is just the big selling point. I think if you're not a fan of the old characters, it may not hold as much sway for you but giving it a try even if you're more into the silver to bronze age characters may not be such a bad idea. A solid 3 stars but no better.
