An Interesting Sequel
The first thing that stands out in any Burton movie, is the Art Direction ( Set design). Just like most of his movies, this one is a marvel to look at.
He really brings Wonderland to life, as a breathing and darkly colorfull place. Much like I imagined it in the books. Hardly do we ever thing in bright primary colors such as the 1951 animated movie.
The next thing of course is character design. One of the thing that threw me off was character size. I thought Tweedle Dee and dumm should have been larger. I loved the look of the Red Queen ( Big Head ). Also Johnny Depp looked excellent as a functional Mad hatter. If you look on his costume, everything there is something a Hatter would use.
The story is good , not great but it carries along well enough that an audience wont get bored. The only complaint I would have would be that Mia Wasikowski seems to have slept walked through her role.
Maybe because of how manic everyone else seemed, she just looked frozen by comparison, I just never saw any look in her that told us that she was a part of the story we were watching.
