Alan Scott, the bearer of the mystical Starheart, continues to fight for truth and justice into old age as the original Green Lantern. Edit
Origin
Hundreds and hundreds of years ago, a mystical green meteor fell down to Earth, that was actually alive. It fell in ancient China. A mystic named Chang heard it a voice inside the meteor prophesy that it would act three times, once to bring life, once to bring death, and once to bring power. Chang carved it into a lamp, but other men in his village feared him and the meteor and murdered him. After they killed Chang, green flames blasted from the lamp and killed them. After many years, it was found by an insane member of an asylum, who carved it into a lantern. Light burst from the lantern and he was sane. This meant that the meteor had completed life and death. It was actually the Starheart. The Starheart was the gathered magical forces of the Earth-1 universe, done by the Guardians Of The Universe. It was hidden in the heart of a star before becoming a sentient being. After many more years, the lantern got on a train with young railroad engineer Alan Scott on it. Scott picked up the lantern and held it. Then, as the train was passing over a bridge, it was revealed that Dekker, a business rival, had placed explosives on said bridge. The train derailed, and everyone except Scott died. As he awoke in the wreckage, the lantern told him-carve a ring from the base of the metal and touch it to the light. When he did, the ring was filled with the power of the Starheart. He was told that the ring was powered by his will and belief. Alan Scott left, punished Dekker, and became Green Lantern.
Characteristics:
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 201 lbs.
Hair: Blond
Eyes: Blue
Justice Society of America and Early Years
Scott was a founding member of the Justice Society Of America. Although, like Jay Garrick, he was old, the ring rejuvenated him. He fought evil in the JSA for many years. Scott had a sidekick, and his base was in Gotham City. When not fighting crime, he worked for the Gotham Broadcasting Company. He actually became chairman of the JSA for a short time before giving the position to Hawkman. Suddenly, he and the rest of the JSA were transported to an another dimension, fighting Ragnarok for eternity as not to destroy the universe. However, the JSA came back after a few years.
Post-Crisis
Scott retired after a battle with Extant, where he was physically aged to where he would be without the ring. But then, for a time, Scott's body was absorbed with the Starheart. This meant that he no longer required a ring and was, again, rejuvenated. He took the name Sentinel and helped found a new Justice Society Of America. But since, he was physically altered so he became older and needed a ring. Alan Scott got a ring back and continues fighting crime in the Justice Society as the Green Lantern.
Powers
Alan Scott has powers very similar to a Green Lantern of the
Green Lantern Corps, although his ring has little to do with theirs. He can do nearly anything with the ring. He can fly, go fast, fire power blasts, and more. He also can create objects made of pure energy, anything from a gun to a huge force field to a hammer. The ring also can translate languages, detect traps, search for people, heal, or analyze an enemy. It is powered by his will, faith, and the mystical energies of the Starheart.
But, sadly like every superhero his powers have a weakness. The weakness of his ring was discovered by a small time business owner who watched as his--as every Gorham City member's hero, was beaten by the Sportsmaster. He was knocked out by a wooden bat. Meaning wood is his weakness as a new criminal found out during that sad display of weakness in front of a convenience store. That criminal was later known as the "Made of Wood" killer and as years passed his soon took the part of this odd killer. Fortunately for Scott Batman was there to save him the second time.
