dark_noldor's Alan Moore's Neonomicon #4 - Part 4: The Lurker Within review

    Messiah is coming

I guess Alan Moore did a massive job in research, must have read lots of books and sites about H.P. Lovecraft, but I got to be honest, I didn´t like this mini series at all. Perhaps it´s because I´ve never read anything about Lovecraft before, so this is the first time I see something about his work and, honestly, if that´s all there´s to show, I definitely don´t want anything with Lovecraft at all. In this conclusion, there is at least a nice pace in the first pages, where Agent Merril Brears, recently break free from her prision and her monster lover, talks to her chief while a group of the FBI breaks the shop and kills everyone in it. Then the story just follows the same dark and muddy theme, that should be familiar to Lovecraft´s fans, but to a "virgin" reader it´s just boring and confusing. Even Jacen´s art isn´t great as in Crossed. The vibe in this mini series wasn´t good from issue # 2, but I must admit that the first issue and the one shot released in 2010 were quite interesting, mostly because it was all about mystery and detective business, but once it became about this magic nonsense about gods, monsters, time and reality, man, for those who like it ok, but this isn´t the kind of material that I enjoy.
