@NiKva: There's plenty of Moore I didn't enjoy much like myself. Hypothetical Lizard, From Hell, and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen all come to mind. Also, I'd concede that Killing Joke is indeed overrated. Moore has a very large body of work though and has told a lot of different types of story's. You might very well find that you like some of his more upbeat and lighthearted fantasy/sci-fi work like....
- Superman: For the Man who Has Everything
- Action Comics: Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?
- Supreme #41-56 and Supreme: The Return
- Tom Strong
I didn't include V for Vendetta on that list because while it's a classic and a favorite of mine, it's done much in the heady, serious, gloomy fashion of Watchmen. I'm not sure how old you are and don't want to presume, but if you're younger you might find that you will connect more with stories like the Watchmen and V as you grow older. It also helps with stories like those to have a good grasp on history so that you can understand the context in which some of these stories are being told.
In any case. No author is for everyone. Personally, I can't stand Geoff Johns and he's been a top dog in the comics world for years now.
