Circa 1958 21 year old Alan Class began importing US remaindered comics into Britain but soon concluded it would be easier to arrange reprint rights than to continue to deal with the vagaries of import licenses, shipping schedules, etc. Thus he set up Alan Class Comics and, after negotiating reprint rights with numerous US publishers such as ACG, Archie (including Red Circle and MLJ imprints), Charlton, Fawcett, Lev Gleason, King Features (including rights to their newspaper strips), Sterling and Timely/Atlas (and later Marvel, once the company changed name). The company continued to produce new issues until 1989, when Alan Class shut up shop and retired.
