When Rory Campbell joined Moira MacTaggert's genetic research team at the Muir Island Mutant Research Center, he soon discovered that in an alternate future, he would become a mutant hunter known as Ahab. Rory would try with all his might to prevent this horrible truth from happening. While the British team known as Excalibur was stationed on Muir Island, they captured the feral mutant Acolyte devoted to Magneto named Spoor. With Rory's inventiveness of a sealed room that was built with a laser web to react to hostile actions, they were able to contain Spoor. Rory was soon tricked into attacking Spoor by Spoor's mutant power of mood-altering pheromones, thus causing the net to react to Rory and cut his leg off.

Later on, Rory accepted a position of mutant liaison and management within the restructured W.H.O. (Weird Happenings Organization). Desperate for the means to walk again, Rory traded information of the Legacy Virus to Sebastian Shaw of the Hellfire Club for a bionic leg. Soon his weak willpower would cause him to Succumb to the all powerful mutant known as Apocalypse. Rory would become the horseman known as famine in which he captured the mutant Sunfire. Sunfire was currently a member of a group called the twelve in which Famine battled with but they escaped with Sunfire. Apocalypse along with famine and the other horsemen were later teleported by Mikhail Rasputin and have become unknown to where they have been sent.

In the Alternate future that Rory feared while he was on Muir Island, Rory became Ahab who controlled a mutant tracking program. He has once boasted about his greatest Hound creation being the daughter of Jean and Scott Summers within this reality. Even though she turned her hostility against Ahab and has tried multiple times to escape his grasp, she was always recaptured. During her last recent battle with Ahab, she crippled him near the end where Ahab was forced to continue life within a hover chair and becoming a cyborg.
