Two solid episodes in a row that both hit on deeper thematic ideas while still being a bit of a cape. One more and we might have a pattern.After another shipment of diamonds is stolen, Agent Coulson and the Magic School Bus roll into Sweden to investigate. Eye Spy begins with a group of men all wearing matching suits and red masks and all carrying steel briefcases boarding a train. A woman observes them and follows. This was a nice set-up. I feel like we, as an audience, are more likely to be suspicious of the men in red masks. They definitely set off my inner “If you see something, say something.” But as it turns out, it was the lone, silent woman who we should have been on the look out for. The fourth episode of Agents of SHIELD feels a bit generic. The show has only the merest hint of the fantastical elements of the comics - in this case the "eye" of the title is a camera device installed in an operative who is a former SHIELD agent. Again, the former SHIELD writer/artist who is most known for bringing cinematic storytelling to comics, Jim Steranko, said it best in his opinion of this episode, that it "had an overall cohesion not previously in evidence", but was unambitious, and "...
