A Not So Good Beginning 13
I have never been a great X-Men fan. I liked their cartoons but this is about it. So I decided to read this, a story not connected to the rest of the X-Men storylines currently running in other titles. This is what I thought about it: Story Not many things happen in this issue. We are mainly introduced with the X-Men of these reality and find out the story behind some of these. We find out how Fortress X was created and how these mutants were forced to go there in order to protect them...

This Is Not Age of Apocalypse, But It Looks Good 1
As a sucker for well thought out alternate reality stories, this introduction to Age of X hits the right notes with me. It presents a different Marvel Universe that immediately feels real and not lazily thrown together. The characters who appear are all familiar but different enough that even those who only briefly appear come off as though they have lived substantially different lives from what we know. Humanity Vs Mutants 1
I´m a big fan of alternate realities, like Age of Apocalypse, and I think Mike Carey´s premise for this arc story is new, refreshing and very interesting. Carey has an unique style for writing and he really imprinted this since the first page of this story: one of the things that I really liked was the idea of only giving explanations for what´s Age of X all about as the series goes on, instead of first explaining what´s the meaning of everything, then starting the plot. OverviewThe gathered mutant forces tell stories as they wait for the human forces to attack. Each story becomes a flashback, giving an insight into how the world became warped beyond recognition. Age of X Alpha is a Marvel one-shot issue introducing an alternate universe where the X-Men never existed and mutants everywhere are fighting for their lives. Age of X is a more of a visual treat with an “alternate” dimension take on the X-Men and their myths that fails to live up to the visual style presented. Majority of the book was written by Mike Carey who seems to have his own little universe to play with. Problem is that the story is lacking and seems to be like something we have seen before done better with ‘House of M’.The artwork is pretty good but the character redesigns really stand out and in some ways really improve on some key character...
