I like sci-fi and all but I think I'd much rather have Nova back on Earth. Think I'm getting a littel burnt out on all this Annihilation stuff.
He’s gone helmet-to-helmet with Iron Man, been burnt to a crisp, replaced by a Kree and turned evil. Yes, the last member of the Nova Corps has been put through the ringer, but as an all-new storyline begins in Nova #8, Richard Rider (a.k.a. Nova) may face his greatest challenge yet! The acclaimed writing team of Dan Abnett & Andy Lanning (Annihilation: Conquest) are joined by special guest artist Wellinton Alves (Laurell K Hamilton’s Anita Blake: The First Death), who joins the critically acclaimed series for this important three-part arc. When Nova escaped the clutches of the Phalanx in issue #7, he thought he was one step closer to ending their malevolent march through Annihilation: Conquest. Instead, the Human Rocket now finds himself at what just may be the edge of the universe!
“Who are Xarth’s Mightiest heroes? What is Cosmo? And where in the heck did Wellinton Alves come from?” asked editor Bill Rosemann. “All of us love stories that shock us – that have us wondering what could possibly be coming next – and reviewer after reviewer are applauding the rollercoaster that Dan and Andy are taking them on. And I have a feeling that readers are going to enjoy the extra shot of awesomeness that Wellinton is bringing to the show. Best of all, even if you’ve never read a single issue of Nova before this, issue #8 hits the ground running with everything you need to know to enjoy the action.”
If he survives the next three issues in one piece, Nova’s going to find himself with new allies, new villains…and a creepy complication that promises to bedevil him for months to come! Don’t miss your chance to jump onboard the epic sci-fi adventure that Aint It Cool News calls “without a doubt, the best Marvel ongoing series of the year.”

This ought to be good. Nova better smash these guys. I mean if Jack Flag can give them a fight and Steel Spider...
Since returning to Earth, the intergalactic lawman known as Nova has been confronted with the post-Civil War Marvel Universe, parents who no longer recognize their son and the not-so-subtle recruiting efforts from Iron Man himself. However, in Nova #3, a tie-in to the mega popular The Initiative storyline, Richard Rider must confront a larger issue—the government sponsored Thunderbolts, a collection of some of the world’s most dangerous villains…including Nova’s former teammate Speedball (now known as Penance)!
“Writers Dan Abnett and Andy Landing are expertly raising the stakes with each issue,” said editor Bill Rosemann. “The first issue ended with Iron Man promising to investigate Rich’s return to Earth. Issue #2 ended with the unexpected arrival of the Thunderbolts and Rich’s former pal Penance. So how will they end issue #3? By leading readers right into the madness that is Annihilation: Conquest!”
It’s the Initiative, the Thunderbolts and a clash between former New Warriors teammates—what more could you ask for? It’s the latest issue of the series that has sold out back-to-back as readership rises and has Newsarama.com’s Lucas Siegel saying, “I can’t wait for #3” and Comixtreme.com’s Adam Chapman exclaiming, “Can't wait to see what happens next issue.” The Human Rocket is back on Earth, but if the Thunderbolts have their way, he’ll be buried in it!

Iron-Man continues to piss off everyone in Nova #2. Here's the blurb from Marvel.
After the cataclysmic conclusion to Annihilation, Nova is the last member of the Nova Corps, sworn to protect the universe as a one man army. With the launch of Nova, fans and critics alike have thrilled to this sole survivor's adventures under the watch of writers Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning and artist Sean Chen. In May's Nova #2, tying into the Initiative storyline permeating many major Marvel titles, the titular hero will find his return to Earth quite shocking, as he's confronted with the after effects of Civil War and accosted by Iron Man himself! But first Nova has to meet with his former New Warriors teammates, Justice and Penance (formerly Speeball), who played a large part in the start of Civil War itself.
What do the critics have to say? "Abnett and Lanning deliver a solid script with some witty moments," said Kelvin Green of SilverBulletComicBooks.Com.
Comixtreme's Blake Petit said, "Abnett and Lanning do sci-fi superheroes extremely well, and they're a great fit for this character."
"The whole issue was a fantastic read," said Lucas of Newsarama.Com. "I cannot wait until the next issue."
With ties to Civil War and Annihilation, Nova promises to bring big action and big events each issue, as the Marvel universe adjusts to fallout from both events, while also tying into the fan favorite Initiative storyline. If you want cosmic, if you want epic, if you want surprise…then you want Nova!
