Is Lex Luthor dead? Well, he may be since Death (From the series Sandman) has crossed over into Action Comics! The Black Ring Part 5 continues in one of the most intriguing Action Comics stories in years!

    The Good

Where to start? I was incredibly leery about Death crossing over into the book, since Vertigo and DC characters are so different from each other in many ways. However, after reading the first few pages, I knew this was a dynamite issue. This is a great introduction to non-Vertigo readers to the character Death. I, myself, have read a few Sandman issues here and there, and one or two issues featuring Death, so I knew a tiny bit about her, but this issue of Action is great at letting everyone else know about her. Beware though, this issue is all dialogue between Lex and Death, but it's some phenomenal dialogue, and by far, one of the most interesting issues I've read this year. If I were doing a end-of-the-year award type thing for best issue, this would for sure be nominated. This issue is all a discussion about what Death is, how humans deal with it, and what waits for us in the afterlife, and the best part is that we will be seeing Death again. Probably not in the next issue, but she'll be back soon enough (at least I hope so!). This book ends with a sneak peak at what we'll see next, and SPOILER ALERT: It involves Vandal Savage. B-List fans unite!

    The Bad

How do expect me to read a Jimmy Olson back-up after this great main story? Sure, it's pretty good, but it's nothing compared to the rest of the book!

The Verdict 5/5 - MUST BUY!

Don't look for any action in this month's Action Comics; however, it was a dynamite issue regardless, and a wonderful introduction to Death from Sandman. Although you may not be into the direction that Action Comics has taken the past few months, this is one issue you have to pick up. By far, it's one of my favorite things DC has put out this year.

This intrigues me and makes me feel as though my soul has died a little at the same time.

    It must be good.
Jimmy Olsen could become Sandman's Pal and all sorts of hilarity would ensue.

I've never read Sandman either but I'm going to have to now. Death is awesome.

When it comes to the Jimmy Olson Co-Feature, just do what I do. Read it first. Flip to the very back, then flip forward until you reach the start of the co-feature and don't spoil the end of the main. Read the Co-Feature, then read the main. Works every time.

Glad I could help. I've been reading a lot of comics with Co-Features I liked less than the main title. Streets of Gotham's original Manhunter Co-Feature was so mediocre but Streets itself was so fantastic, that's what got me started doing that. Jimmy Olson's Co-Feature is actually one of the best Co's imo, but of course, Action Comics is currently so phenominal it's impossible for any Co to keep up XD

I've been loving Action Comics since it became Lex Luthor's book and this was my favorite issue of the run so far

I've also been liking a lot of books with a lot less action in them lately....it's like the writers have to work harder to make the book interesting and it pays off most of the time

I've reread this one so many times now.  Such an amazing issue.  Probably one of my top 5 comics from last year.  It was the first time I've ever been introduced to the character and now I can say I'm a fan of Death.  Sounds odd when said aloud though.
