    One More King

    SUMMARY :
In this issue Gar El a Kryptonian ancestor of Kal Els lands on Earth in 1776 just as the rebels are about to declare their independence. In order to show good faith to the king of the new world he has found.  Gar El agrees to defeat the rebellion before it gets off the ground.
Cut to modern day, and the world has not changed.  Because Gar El wanted to maintain order he became the ruler of the world stifiling the human race.  Yet some begin to stand up against Gar El, and when Clark meets one of the rebels named Lois Lane, he agrees to join them.
     COVER :
Mike Magnolia draws a cool and dark cover. With an image of who we think is Clark ripping the American Flag.  It sets the tone for what is inside.
     INTERIORS :
At this point, Byrne had a handle on the Superman crew. I would mark this as some of his best work. He still isn't strong in the background department, but it makes for a cool looking book.
     STORY :
Byrne makes this more than more than just the gimmick that it was developed from. Every character is drawn out and made into real people. Making this book a real stand out in the crowd of these Elseworld annuals.
